      1) Went A&E and finally got to see the doc after waiting for 4+hrs

      2) Did a blood test and the doc says the blood count looks fine, probably viral
      3) Ask us whether can manage or not, say we can go back and if fever persist come back KKH
      4) Doc say viral not much they can do
      5) We brought her stools but she did not want it. Say only will do tests if she warded.

Today her fever and diarrhea still persist. Quite angry and helpless dunno what we can do. Bring back to KKH again?

I would either 1) bring her back to KKH and insist that she be warded or 2) bring her to the A&E of another hospital. Fever and diarrhea for 9 days sounds serious to me. I wouldn’t want to take a risk.

        Take care.

Yes, agree with MotherHen. 9 days of diarrhoea is no joke - serious dehydration ! The persistent fever could be caused by the diarrhoea (loss of water). Go get a second opinion. Better be safe than sorry later ! Hope your DD will get well soon. 🙏

You take care of yourself too !

Hi, my son had diarrhea, fever and vomitting for 3 days and ended up dehydrated. Got hospitalised and had to be put on the drip. I went to East Shore cos my PD is based there. Think you should go back to the dr soon. Take care

Don’t delay and seek second opinion quickily… …perhaps check with paed and get referred to hospital so cut down waiting time…

                Hope they get well soon…

Don’t go to the A&E anymore. Pls go to any specialist PD.

In the meantime, give Lacteolfort or Smecta to stop the diarrhea. You can buy from pharmacies. It is very effective.

Fever if >38.5C, can give Nurofen if she is not allergic to NSAIDS. Must get from the pharmacist counter.

Give plenty of fluids. Water, soup etc. Milk must dilute a bit.

And usually with diarrhea, the anus will be really red. Pls apply diaper rash cream or let her sit in Potassium Permanganate wash <purple solution> to relieve pain and itch. Can get from any pharmacy. They call this wound disinfectant solution I think.

Oh yes, I remember my PD advising us to change to a Soy formula for this period. Or give Pediasure instead coz no lactose.

In fact, many medicines prescribed by PDs can be bought from the pharmacist without prescription. But my mom has medical background so we are more garang.

                        Personally I don’t "trust" KKH.

Find a doctor who gives you the confidence.

Fever for 9 days is not good.

                        Hope everything goes well.
