Appreciate if someone could help with the following question:

A class of Chinese and Malay pupils went to the zoo. The ratio of the no of Chinese pupils to the no. of Malay pupils was 10: 7. The ratio of the no.of Malay boys to the no. of Malay girls was 9 :5. What was the ratio of the no. of Malay girls to the no. of Chinese pupils in its simplest form?

My DS’s answer is 1:4 but the answer provided was 1:2. TIA.

So, 19u --> $133, 1u --> 7

Sorry, but I am still confused. Firstly, if Hakim had 39u at first and in the end he had 20u, how is this possible to translate to 19u => $133 since it is a reduction?

Also, when I worked backwards using $273, I am not able to get the final ratio of 4:1. (I end up with Hakim:Suresh, $406:$301).

Please help. Thank you.

At first,Hakim:Suresh --> 39u:24u --> 373:168
In the end, Hakim:Suresh--> 20u:5u-->140:35

You may use “Grouping Concept”

For assembling a group of 50 radios, he earned (50*8) + 6 ----- 406

4236 ------- 4060 + 176

10 groups of 50 radios ------ 500

176/8 ------ 22

He must assemble 522 radios.
