Radiation poisoning from Japan??
-
Dnls_mum:
OMG this is so bad!I know recently that the ministry came out to say that there are no reported cases of radiation poisoning as a result of travel to Japan in Singapore.
BIL just told us that a colleague has been unwell since returning from her holiday to Japan. She went to see doctor who says that she has symptoms of radiation poisoning. He even told her that she cannot get pregnant for 7 years because that's how long the radiation stays in one's body.
We have asked BIL to ask her for more info, eg where she went and what's her symptoms.
recently one of our colleague also went to Japan for a holiday..
but for me, I am still bit skeptical about this..
did you managed to know if the friend is doing well now? does she already have kids?
if not poor lady has to wait for 7 years before planning anything

:yikes: Wonder how long was she exposed to 'radiation' to kena so serious... .umm ..don't they need to issue health warnings if it is this scary?

Hi,
I do not know about how recent you meant for your BIL colic radiation poisoning. I hope she is okay. Where did she go?
I just came back from Japan, Tokyo in Dec last year. I became pregnant the next month. Now, it worries me if my baby is okay. I better check with the gynea.
But my 2cts of experience=> I will not go there!
Basically, my 2yo fell very sick on the 5th day after the Disneyland and we have to cancel our flight and rebook new tickets to fly back. He was vomiting for all that he ate and had diarrhoe.
Even when we met our Japanese friends, they were not confident of their own government. They mentioned that a lot of Japanese are planning for migration. For them, they are staying put like most Japanese as they do not know where to go.
So I guess, I will not go for the next 5-10 years at least.

Oh dear, you mean your baby was vomitting? Was it food poisoning? Did you manage to establish the cause? BIL did say that vomitting is one of the symptoms of radiation poisoning.
I'll bug BIL when I next see him. He is not the most social guy and doesn't talk or gossip much so I hope he goes ask his colleague. -
Yesterday wanbao reported that some dishonest merchant in Japan labelled his products as produced elsewhere instead of Fukushima. So we never know how many dishonest merchants there are lurking in Japan. If you visit Japan, you have to eat the food served.

Dnls_mum, I must thank you for starting this thread. I googled for further info & decided that the situation in Tokyo is not clear yet. Hence, persuaded dh to cancel his incentive trip to Tokyo for the peace of mind.
Do update us if you have further details on your BIL’s colleagues case. Thanks! -
We went to Tokyo Disneyland same time as brainkid in Dec n we r ok except got a cold (mild running nose) - my kid n myself as weather is very cold at night (around 5 degree) or lower! So is common to hv cold n once we came back, we r fine as all mucous came out in dark color! Yee yucks!
We r going there again during June holidays - Life is so short! Btw, the airfare isn’t cheap as compared last yr June. Same as hotel. -

I suspected it maybe the eel rice we ate at Shinjuku.
Even though it was award-winning unagi don. Sigh! :slapshead:
But I shared the same bowl with ds but I was alright. So I maybe wrong.
We stayed in Hyatt and the concierge referred us to a Japanese doctor even though we asked for the hospital. :gloomy:
Well, we came to realized the doctor is a cosmetic surgeon :yikes: when we went there. But in the situation where we cant even speak Jap, we just went ahead with the doctor. Ds was diagnosed with flu from the Jap doctor who prescribed him with antibiotics.
DH and I were very skeptical with his diagnosis.
So we decide to fly back that immediate night when ds condition became worst. When we came back to Singapore, we admitted him to KK immediately and ds was diagnose with food poisoning.
The Singapore doctor just shook his head at the prescribed medication. As parents, I prefer to play safe. Radiation is known to stay in the body for long.
I will not risk my children's health. -
After reading the posts, I am paranoid. My family also went to japan last year. Keep my fingers crossed.

abit out of topic...but can you advise what is the address or name of that award winning eel udon?
