I’m glad to know so many FTWMs here.

I want to know if you will help for your child’s project ? i really want him do the project by himself, but i feel so guilty when he is the worse in his class.

          Mock Paper :

Good qn asked. I also want to know if there is a website for such mock papers. Only heard that there is for HCL fr DD. Asking her to check cos her classmates spotted

DD got back the Sci mock pp yesterday. For Part 1, it is 18 qns of MCQ which is 2 mark each. For Part 2, marks allocation varies for 1 to 4. More on 1 mark in Part 2. Looking at it, we should focus on MCQ to gain 2 marks for each qn correct.

          Project :
DD is managing the project herself which makes her more independent. We facilitate by getting more resources so that she has a broader view and do an assessment what she thinks is relevant and appropriate. Then she will sieve out what is needed or not.

Yes, I do help out even though it's not right to do so, same reason not to make him the worst in his class but have been trying not to help .... hopefully to let go bit by bit to make him independent

              For this week’s exam focus

              SS :
One parent shared with me that she din get DS to study for SS . For a thot, she made the right choice in getting DS to put emphasis on core subjects. Hence, my DD din study as well. Haha! Hope both can make the grade.

              HCL :
Tmrw’s the paper. Reminded my DD not to miss out any stroke in the Chinese Characters. Marks will not be allocated.

I am a ftwm and newly single. Youngest is in p4 GEP. Very thankful that he is very happy in the new environment and is coping well. Have withdrawn from SC when he started GEP as there are 4 out of 5 days that he finishes lessons at 3, so he takes the school bus home and lets himself into the house, and the one day that he goes home for lunch, I will prepare a thermos box lunch for him. He does not have much homework and spends most of his time on the computer. He doesn't have any tuition or enrichment programme. So far we have not helped him with his projects, just to prepare the materials he require to make the posters. I can see that he is flourishing with the mental challenges from school and he has also found his interest in mathematics. Do not intend to send him for tuition so that he has no choice but to work the problems out. Think I have blessed so far... :xedfingers:

Hi, my DS is in P4 GEP. Am glad to find this thread. :thankyou: I'm definitely guilty of helping him with his projects but I'm glad I had the chance to do so 😂 He still needs a lot of help in terms of content and presentation and I find it less stressful if I help him instead of letting him do it all by himself. Gradually, I'm hoping that he will learn the ropes and slowly wean off my help. :xedfingers: I realized that the mock papers given are not of recent years, some as far back as 2000! Is this common?

Do your kids enjoy GEP ? Well, so far, my DD enjoys. However, she doesn’t enjoy doing project for a simple reason - DATELINE. She feels that she is pressed for time to do a submission. Time management again.

The other day, DD mentioned abt her 5 mths in her new school - Her classmates - blur but bright ones hor, trs who are dedicated ( esp Math tr who even goes to the extent to offer supplementary classes for this exam revision ). Of course, the lacking ones are those trs who sweepingly brush thru the subjects and not willing to extend helping hands when asked for explanations to why and how.

For mock pps, DD’s sch did not specific the yr of exam. Normally, sch will give out 2 pp for each subject. More concerned w Sci for this Thurs cos it is challenging to answer to the specific Sci term. Got a check with some parents and found out that RGPS and NY gives one Sci mock pp for revision whereas ACS has two mock pps.

The year of the three Math mock papers (2000, 2004 and 2011) given to my DS was indicated on the cover page but not the other subjects. For English, i think there were two sets and for science & SS, only one set.

Any known results for Science yet? FT admitted it is a tough pp, but has not revealed any result yet. Other schools hv the same feelings? Keeping fingers crossed …
