Augmum:
Thanks for the reassurance. I thought it's because of my DS being slack.
I think inconsistency in tests and quizzes is not unusal, as they are tested onLangMum:
My DS said maths was tough, he has 2 questions which he confirm don't know how to do.
And they have received they geog paper yesterday.
My DS is very in consistent with his test and quizzes, that's why I'm worried about the overall GPA.
different topics, areas and answering skills ( esp for essay questions).
Cant compare now with Primary schs' consistency results. -
Augmum:
But how about those taking third lang or MEP ? They are taking more than 6 subjects.
a small correction.......hmmum:
Average GPA for year 1 if i'm not wrong is calculated by taking the average of best 6 subject (including 1 language)
For yr1 and yr2, computation of GPA has to be taken fr ALL subjects
anyway there are 6 subjects in total, ( unlike in yr 3/4 which is L1 R5)
LA, HCL, Maths, Sci, Hist and Geog.
-
I heard that there is a group of students who have yet to get back their Geog papers due to inability to attend the paper clarification session on Wed. These group of Yr 1s will only get their paper back later during their class Geog lesson.

[/quote]Those who are taking 3 rd lang are not eligible to take MEP or AEP
and there are really very few pupils who take MEP ( some classes even none?).
As for those taking 3 rd lang, Majority of them fared badly which cannot be used to replace another GPA.
Hence, it still boils down to the 6 subj which i mentioned, leaving no room to choose best 6. -

Can some experienced parents please provide a guide to Yr 1: what is considered an outstanding GPA, an above average GPA, an average GPA and a below average GPA?
I know the passing GPA for Yr 1 is 2.0, but that doesnโt tell much of where the child standing is within the cohort. Can anyone provide a gauge (eg. 20% of cohort score above 3.6, 50% of cohort score above 2.8โฆetc.) so that will give a much clearer picture. For kids and parents, can also set better expectations going forward.
Thanks in advance for any advice. -
Can some parents please advise me what is the Sec 2 literature book used in DHS? Just curious as a fren asked me and I did not have the answer

Must say the books does not sound very \"interesting\" Those literature books are around for ages, and nowadays some schools are moving towards the newer classics to be more in line with the younger generation. DHS not going that direction for literature  -
like to check with parents with sec 1 kids...how many CL compo have your child done so far...to my horror my dd did only 1 compo (did it in term 1) and worst of all, the compo is still not given back! :yikes: In Pri school, they should have completed 4-5 compo by now! Wondering if all sec 1 classes is the same?
