Can some experienced parents please provide a guide to Yr 1: what is considered an outstanding GPA, an above average GPA, an average GPA and a below average GPA?


I know the passing GPA for Yr 1 is 2.0, but that doesn’t tell much of where the child standing is within the cohort. Can anyone provide a gauge (eg. 20% of cohort score above 3.6, 50% of cohort score above 2.8…etc.) so that will give a much clearer picture. For kids and parents, can also set better expectations going forward.

Fyi, the 2 Lit bks are Merchant of Venice ( MOV) and To Kill A Mockingbird (TKAM).

Must say the books does not sound very \"interesting\" :oops: Those literature books are around for ages, and nowadays some schools are moving towards the newer classics to be more in line with the younger generation. DHS not going that direction for literature :sad:

like to check with parents with sec 1 kids...how many CL compo have your child done so far...to my horror my dd did only 1 compo (did it in term 1) and worst of all, the compo is still not given back! :yikes: In Pri school, they should have completed 4-5 compo by now! Wondering if all sec 1 classes is the same?

fyi, my dd has done 3 CL compo so far and has gotten back all her compo:
compo 1: 我的彩色校园
compo 2: choose 1 compo title out of 9 given titles (命题作文）
compo 3:我的假期生活

perhaps the syllabus only required 1 compo and the rest was extra work given by her tr......? :scratchhead: I'm not so sure too.... :?
who is your dd's tr?

The amount of workload does differ fr class to class depending on the T in charge....( some are more demanding)...
Not Only for HCL, for other subj too....

Yes....these lit bks are around for ages, i was using them during my schooldays too.......
But they are Unforgettable novels, worth the read.....
I saw some other titles in the booklist for those taking E Lit in sec3, perhaps they are newer ?? i am not sure....
