      Nebbermind:
donch need to wait so long what....there are always other mean to get a transfer

for Top schools like Nanyang (as well as for any other popular, branded schools) -
usually there is very little movement, from P1 up to P3. why ?
Nobody wants to withdraw, but so many people eager to come in. In fact, the list of kids on Transfer wait list is very long. All fighting to enter Nanyang - including the younger siblings of their elder siblings who had just been newly transfered into NYPS for (P4 to P6) GEP programme.

thus even if scarce, limited vacancies do arise, it is very precious!
Nanyang Principal cherrypick which child for transfer in. For transfer, P looks at the child now, not parent(s) anymore (whether celebrity or not).
The school cherry pick select the best!

eg: does the child show any exceptional talent in that particular field of CCA the school is interested in ? During regular Sports meet or Inter schools competition, Principal / Vice Principal send their school representatives down to the field of Sports competition meet, source for potential talent. If they happen to spot one outstanding talent, even if this child currently NOT on NYPS transfer wait list, and child's academic progress not bad, the school may offer this scare, rare precious vacancy to this child, instead of to those currently on long waiting Transfer list.

in fact, there were times when transfer was offered to deserving pupils who come from poor, humble background staying in remote neighbourhood schools, far away from Bukit Timah area. These kids not even in their long waiting Transfer list.

for Top schools like Nanyang who can cherry pick - once P1 has kicked off or engine more than halfway into P1 programme, the school looks at the child now, no longer their parents who had PV in the past. Unless their child happen to possess special talent that the school desires. Or come in via their (P4 to P6) GEP programme, when transfer movement is most fluid at end P3, joining at beginning P4 Term 1.

in other hot, popular schools like SCGS, once P1 Term 1 kick off, they even set barrier like Entrance Admission Tests, for those keen to transfer in from other primary schools. The school ultimately selects the best.

before P1 kick off, PV parents can appeal.
but once P1 kick off - for hot popular schools, is a different ball game altogether.

        upon a wishing star:
Actually I find this topic ridiculous in the first place. Does it concern anyone if Zoe tay is in which branded school ?

actually, public not interested in Zoe Tay per say.
She is only a parent, like any one of us here. Everybody is so busy with their own personal lives, trying to make ends meet. Where got free time to bother about her ?

What public interested in is -
how do schools manage or handle parents in the limelight industry. Do school(s) give any special preference / priority or treatment to such parents, coming from spot light industry ? Is there fair and partial treatment given ? This is the key issue.

it so happen that Zoe Tay comes from the ... Arts and Entertainment industry.
It could jolly well have been anyone, coming from this industry, not necessary her. It can be A, B, C, D, E, F, G, etc. It can be Tom, Dick or Harry. It can be Ah Lian, Ah Huey. But it is just a coincidence that she happen to represent the industry she is working for. If she never work for this industry, then the news reported in this thread would have been on someone else name instead, not her.

thus for people who are from limelight industry, BEFORE your child enters Primary 1, it is wise to maintain a low profile. The lower profile you maintain, the more humble you are, it ends up better for your child eventually.

Even after your child manage to enter, it is still wise to maintain a low profile at all times. why ? because public will zoom in next - so is your child able to perform well, after entering into the branded school ?

in entertainment glamor industry, the more glamor you show, you think good. But in EDUCATION sector, the more glamor you try to show up, it can back fire. The forces at work act in stark opposite direction.

        why opposite forces ?
in schools, Principal, teachers, parents are concerned with kids' character values building. \"Humility\" is one such key values that schools trying to inculcate. They teach children \"di zi gui\". They also teach children: Be humble always.
Other important values school trying to inculcate are \"Courtesy Justice Honesty Honour\": 礼、义、廉、耻.

When you step right into Nanyang primary school compound, what do you see as their school moto, reflected everywhere in significance ? Ask yourself - what is Nanyang important school's moto, for all her pupils from P1 to P6 ?

        4 key words:
\"Diligence Prudence Respectability Simplicity\". Again, which value(s) does the school emphasize ? There are four important key values the school values for decades. One of them is Simplicity ! Again, the word \"Simplicity\" reflects \"Humility\". What is Humility ? means be humble. What is opposite of Humility ? glamor. The last thing to be found in Education sector is ... glamor.

This is a wake up call for those with kids due for P1 enrolment, working in the limelight / glamor industry. Last year, there was another celebrity ... who made commotion about his child and Nanyang.

Remember! Before your child enters Nanyang, anything can happen.
        Murphy's law is lurking everywhere!

she is just doing what i believe most paents would do. to give it a shot even though the chances of getitng is very very slim. better to try than not to try.

as to the school her kid is attending now, i am sure the school knows of the attention she will bring to it and must have done a thorough check on her address, phase qualification etc.

i :faint: when i heard a acquaintance telling people she has connections blah blah blah to get her kid into a popular school. :siao:

These celebrities should keep their mouths shut before registering their kids for P1 and even after theirs are in the school. Principals should also decide carefully which celebrities (for PV) to select. It’s bcos certain actresses think they are big shots and as such they should be given priority. For goodness sake, they are just actors or actresses…just another job.

Sometimes, these celebrities put their kids in awkward situation bcos of the way they behave.

This temasek tends to make a mountain out of a molehill...not just once but several times already.

in future, whoever celebrity creates commotion BEFORE their child enters Nanyang, one gentle reminder. Principal of that school has the authority to - either accept or reject that particular application to be a Parent Volunteer.

Once school reject, no matter how many times you appeal, is futile.
The school may not disclose reason(s) why you are rejected.

Education sector works differently from Entertainment circle.
Education sector does not condone glaring media publicity.

it may back fire, causing embarrassment to oneself.

Education industry is different from entertainment.

P1 registration is transparent. Those who enter entertainment industry have one purpose - to entertain us, the viewers.
