        Essential:
School holiday cannot .... Only public holiday

Ex-P would have thought of using the 1 month June holidays to offset his 9 week term. After Vesak Day, it will be hard to pass time till August.

inside prison, everyday they have tasks to do. Maybe do simple carpentry work. Just don’t get involved with fights, even if the "seasoned" inmates try to test out or bully "new comers" join on board.

different category of prisoners go to different jail different location, depending on the degree of severity, type and nature of crime they commit. Not sure if they have their buttock caned. The whip used for caning is "special".

They also wash hospital bed sheets and learn a skill. Govt won't feed them for free.

I'm surprised that such a topic can generate so many posts.

Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world and for a good reason. It caters to the basic human needs. It was here long before we were born and it will continue to be here long after we are gone. There is no stamping out prostitution. It's just like poverty, crime, adultery, etc....
Where there is prostitution, there will be underage prostitution. They go hand in hand. A person does not decide to join this industry based on age. When they have the motivation, the courage to throw away their morals, the network to show them the ropes, the peers to encourage them, they will join in at whatever age they are in.

This is a basic demand and supply economic situation. The men provides the money, the women provides the goods. The police cannot stamp it out. The only reason it generated this much publicity is that the pimps were getting too blatant and they needed to be reined in. Make no mistake that there will still be pimps operating after all is said and done, and there will still be underage prostitutes.

Men being men will forever think with their small brains. The only thing that holds them back is their disposable income, their fear of getting caught, their fervent religious beliefs. If the men were in another country (ie. China ?), with highly disposable income, with no means of being caught, with young pretty girls clawing at them, most will succumb. Married men, single men, all will go down. Only the fervently religious will stand firm, if a little shaky. Going to church every Sunday, does not constitute fervently religious. Jack N. went to church every Sunday too.

Mummies, best not to know what goes on in China. What goes on overseas, stays overseas. The richer they are, the bigger their harem. Success is a double edged sword.

We can't eradicate poverty or greed, neither can we eradicate prostitution nor mistresses.

Deep down in my heart, I know & I agree with your points. But asking wife to close eye, act blur & let go, that's very sad 😢 Just hope it will never happen.

It’s not just in China…it happens in Vietnam and Cambodia. Women in those countries can’t wait to hook a Singaporean men as an escape out. My hubby went to Vietnam on company trip…a Vietnamese girl asked him if his french male colleague is single and earns high salary.

An ex-bf (hongkonger) once told me that shanghai women are very sly…if the woman likes the man and he is single, she will manage to ‘get’ him. If he is married, she can make him divorce his wife.
Supposing the husband is posted overseas, wife better go along.

For Godsake! It’s the 21st Century need we forget… The Singapore State should BAN all forms of illegal activities including prostitution and gambling here now.

Prostitution is legal…don’t approach those below 18 though. Gambling at casino also allowed. Same goes for Singapore pools, buying 4D and Toto.

knowing that Prostitution destroy basic family unit, bring about Aids and VD diseases to wives - state should ban it completely, regardless of > or < 18 !

no married woman would want their husb visit prostitute, come home and pass their sin, dirt and disease(s) to them.
