Heard fr my dd1 that she and one of her classmate were told to do their own reading instead of attending the lesson like the others when both of them forgot to bring the textbk.

Is it true? I know i should blame myself for not checking thru her bag as I was preoccupied with my dd2. However I think that teacher should allow sharing of textbk for those students that hv forgot to bring.

Any parents from P1? How is your kids’ recent written expression (compo) paper? It was supposed to be a mastery test - At the playground. I was told by my girl that the paper was marked by 2 teachers.

I hv chk with my dd who is in P1 regarding the above but she claimed that no such test conducted in her class. She is quite blurred like sotong. I think will wait until receive the result. I think I don't expect too much from her as she is quite weak in her comp writing. I am looking around to enroll her in enrichment class for creative writing.

My child also took the test but the paper is not returned yet. I feel that it is still too challenging for the P1s to be tested on composition writing so fast - just my opinion.

According to my girl, it's not compulsory. Those who did not submit on last thurs will not be able to join the contest.

Agreed. I am quite shocked to hear they hv composition writing test on 2nd term. I tot this will be done fr P2 onwards. I hv asked my girl again regarding this test and she claimed that there are some helping words given so maybe it will not be that difficult for them. Anyway, my girl scored average on her composition worksheet and hence don't hv high hopes on her for scoring high mark.

Yes, compo writing starts from P1 Term 2, same as last yr for my son. It should be reflected on the Term's Assessment Schedule, together with mastery tests and other assessments like Show & Tell, Reading etc. There is no marks but is based on rubrics system, same for Show & Tell, Reading, then convert to certain weightage of the percentage allocated for the term (e.g. 30% of the term's 25% etc).
