If Matthew gives Paul $80

Amt of money at first :
Matthew : 2units + $80
Paul : 1unit - $80

If Matthew gives Paul $20

Amt of money at last :
Matthew : 2units + $80 - $20 = 3parts
Paul : (1units - $80) + $20 = 1parts

3parts = 2units +$60 (Matthew)
1part = 1unit - $60 (Paul)
3 parts = 3 units - $180

2units + $60 = 3units - $180
1units = $240

Amt of money Matthew had first = 2($240) + $80 = $560

I'm not sure if this is correct.

Five boxes represent the 5 vases

since you need additional $42 to buy all 5 vases, the next model is 3 boxes and the other 2 boxes should be $12+$42. Why $12? Because when you buy 3 vases, you have $12 left.

I think there's something not correct in the question. Since each boy ate 1 more chicken wing than girl, there will be 36 boys based on the sentence \"The boys ate 36 more chicken wings than girls.\". But the total number of children is only 30. Doesn't make sense.
