      Daddy:
      Hi,

I have a math question need help?

\"Mrs Wong was short of $42 if she bought 5 similiar vases. So she bought 3 such vases and has $12 left. What was the cost of each vase?\"

      Thankss.
      Daddy :?
If buying 3 vases still have $12 left, then buying additional 2 more vases will need $12+$42=$54. That means each vase cost $27.

          HI,

I'm not sure if this is correct.

Five boxes represent the 5 vases
          [][][][][]

since you need additional $42 to buy all 5 vases, the next model is 3 boxes and the other 2 boxes should be $12+$42. Why $12? Because when you buy 3 vases, you have $12 left.

          [][][]$12+$42

          Hope this helps.

I think there's something not correct in the question. Since each boy ate 1 more chicken wing than girl, there will be 36 boys based on the sentence \"The boys ate 36 more chicken wings than girls.\". But the total number of children is only 30. Doesn't make sense.

                    CeciliaHua,
that is what i thought too when i first read the questions. but the above in bold can only happen when there are equal no. of boys and girls. it should make sense if say there are 1 girl who ate 3 wings and 2 boys ate 8 wings, there is an extra 5 wings already.
but not sure how to work this sum though...as well as a lot of other questions posted here! 😓
