No, I don't allow the maid to mix her clothes with ours. In fact all of us at home has our own pails to throw in our worn clothes. My hubby and I using one large basket, my boy has his own pail and BB has his basin-tub for his clothes! So naturally my maid is using one pail for her own clothes and she will not mix with ours.So isst ok for the maid to put her clothes together with ours and wash together?
How abt her undies?
For me, i always wear panty liner so mine is quite clean in a way...
if i buy panty liner for her, abit exp....
When it comes to using the washing machine to wash, we are also very particular not to mix in everything but will segregate and wash separately! This is what we have learnt from my mother-in-law and my hubby also very particular so we follow lor. For eg. the children's clothes and bedsheets etc. will be washed together in the machine using detergent meant for kids. When it comes to our adult clothes, we will segregate those office clothes and those underwears and wash them in 2 separate cycles. Maid I presume will use only one cycle for all her clothes. Sounds like quite a waste of water and energy hor? But that's how our household works lor... -

Hi Angelight,Hi, want to get some advice here.
If my maid has completed her contract and want to stay on in Spore to work but I don't need her service anymore, what shld I do? Return her to agent or help her find a new employer? And who pays for her passport renewal and work permit then?
I would return the maid to the maid agency in this case and let them handle everything from then on!
You are not obliged to help her look for a new employer (why should you?). Also passport renewal and work permit renewal should be paid for by her next employer.
There are also the question of insurance etc. better return maid to agency and ensure your liability to this maid has been discharged! -

I can't say she has not mixed her undies with her clothes in the machine but I would say it is likely to be one out of ten times.
Hi LOLMum,
Oh ya hor....it just occurred to me that I WON'T know even if my maid had mixed her clothes with ours because I am not at home everyday and she's the one doing all the washing! :skeptical:
I would say that she won't mix but then I do not know for sure...gee...

I allowed my FDW to use washing machine. She will accumulate for 3 days and wash everything in one cycle. She will hand wash her undies etc....I think it is reasonable.nms1:
I have always allowed them the choice of using the washing machine or hand-washing. No need to waste time handwashing unless they need to!
Agree. I see hand-washing clothes a \"luxury\" nowadays. There are so many things to do in the house why hand wash? If it is T-shirts and shorts, I don't see why maid cannot use the machine to wash. She will hand-wash my work dresses who are more delicate that cannot be machine-washed. So depending on how one sees the usage of the washing machine. To me, allowing the maid to use washing machine for her own clothes is no big deal. -

May I ask how many of you here allow your maid to use the washing machine for her own clothes?
Me.
Me too. As long as they dont let me catch them put on a full run for 2 - 3 pieces of clothing.
Undies has to be hand wash. I do spot check now and then (as best as I could) -

For me, it is a rule from the start that she has to wash her clothes separately from ours. All undies are not allowed into the washing machine regardless whose. So isst ok for the maid to put her clothes together with ours and wash together?

I have a separate place & rule to hang undies. In most cases, they do not have the basic concept. For example, they may hang undies at the entrance of toilet etc. I prefer these items to hang them at a corner, not obvious places -
My maid says she don’t go out at all so one day only one set of clothes, how to use washing machine? My working clothes also cannot put in washing machine. I guess it depends on how big the household. Imagine my neighbor has 5 adults in the Hse plus the children and maid, total 8!! How not to use washing machine??? Think the maid will quit if she needs to wash so much clothes by hand.

Thanks for your reply, Verykiasu. But who will help her find a new employer? Somebody has to do the job, right? Is it the agent or the current employer? :scratchhead:

the maid or her new employer should pay for the passport renewal and wpAngelight:

your obligation is to send her back to her home country and nothing more -
Thanks for the reply, Desertwind!
But will the agent want to take her back if she has completed her contract with me? I thot agents usually wash their hands off once the maid paid off their loans?
Really have no experience in this cos my previous maid chose to go home.DesertWind:

The agency should be happy to take her back. They will still make her pay another placement fee if they find her a new employer and either you or her will pay for her lodging while she is looking. They usually use them to help out in the agency as well!
