Actually I used it in the kitchen but realized it's more practical for him :evil: I don't like those digital ones.[/quote]I use the digital ones to have DS time each problem sum he does. 5 marks sums he's given 6-7mins. 3 marks sums : 3-4 mins, 4marks sums : 4-5 mins. He finds it motivating when he is able to do it accurately and within the time limit. The time counts down for each sum he does and he writes down the time he took. This gives him feedback and keeps him focused. But it can cause interference if the sum is particularly difficult and your child is no where near solving it. But I tell my kids, If you are nowhere near after 3mins, move on to the next sum.

Son's tutor told him to time himself when attempting homework with comprehension passage...set 45 min and when timer rings, make an indication which question he is at. He has to time himself for all work done now. I found that for eng paper 2, he has to finish the whole thing in 90 min.

Are you sending your child to any intensive holiday programs? My friend asked me to let DD join the chinese oral classes conducted by Han Language. DD doesn’t want to go. Do you think the program helps?

Hubby and son attended the seminar conducted by Han. Personally I am curious what will be taught during intensive class. But son doesn't have time as tutors have stepped up lessons. With more weightage (50 marks) on oral, it might be useful.

Talk about chicken pox, I had a very bad experience. I had it in my thirties, when my girl was seven months old. At that time, I was breast feeding my girl & you can imagine how worried & upset I was. My hubby immediately brought my older boy for jab but my girl was too young to have the jab.

I had passed it to my baby girl & she got high fever & was admitted to hospital. I had to stay in the hospital to take care of her. My older boy got fever too but without the chicken pox.

My DD did not do well this time because of time management. She did not complete the paper son time and i believe she was rather stress and did not perform to expectation

I used to joke with DD that SA stands for Speed and Accuracy so have to be careful (cannot say the forbidden word \"careless\") and finish the papers and leave at least about 10-15 mins to check through.


I used to repeat this every time before my DD starts her revision papers :

\"Every mark counts !\"

So now the 3 words stuck with her liao :rotflmao:

My son did not do well for SA bcos of poor time management too...aiyah, we can shake hands. He admitted that he took too long and panicked when exam was coming to an end. He is ok if I do not time him, but he doesn't have the luxury of taking own sweet time during PSLE.

Whatever, you cant complete on time, i am going to give you a zero. SHe said, \"ok, we shall try that\"
