And from prc newsreaders '兰花' instead of '胡姬花', '空调' instead of '冷气'。We are being invaded, including the languag we have been using for years.

The national flower of Singapore is know as \"Vanda 'Miss Joaquim' (Chinese: 卓锦万黛兰; pinyin: zhuójǐn wàndàilán)\", NOT 卓锦万黛胡姬.

兰花 is the correct term for addressing orchid species.

The language we have been using for years may not be technically correct in the international context (胡姬花 is acceptable, but maybe not \"cold air machine\" or \"巴杀\").

It is okay to use it locally, but if speaking to international audience, others may mis-understood the meanings.

From another POV, it's not that local languages are invaded.. but rather maybe the original language was corrupted..

we should learn and embrace the correct representation, and not reject them, while allowing others to integrate into our culture and language.

Just to highlight that the local Chinese translation for \"Air conditioner\" is technically not correct.

my son's PRC tuition teacher always use the term: za men instead of wo men (we) so he always tease me by using the term and says he can speak 'mainland mandarin' already

It depends whether the teachers are local or prc. 😂

So now even 巴刹 is incorrect? So should we embrace Da di for hail a taxi instead of 搭德士 and bo luo mi for 黄梨 also?

these terms are unique and 'localised' just like our Singlish so I see no need to change
