Hello all
Taipei hotel room charge, does it go according to number of pax? My children age 3 and 6. When i book the room, do i state 2 adult or i need to tell them 2 adult and 2 children? I only need a standard room. The children can sleep with us, no additional bed required. So do i still need to pay?
Anyone have experience and can advise me?
Thanks.
i would think it is better to tell them outfront. if not, you may incurr hefty charges during check-in. in my search for hotels in taipei, I discovered that a lot of hotels only have queen bed (not king). i think 2A2C on 1 bed is quite cramp. also, for hotels that include breakfast in their pricing, they will ask that I pay for the child's breakfast.
perhaps you may want to consider Park Taipei Hotel (Daan station). They have a triple room - ask for the 1 king & 1 single. This could cater to your needs of 2A2C. i emailed to them directly & got the quote for this triple room with 3 breakfast. -

Hi
Any recommendations for hotels in Taipei? I am planning our trip in Sept for 2 adults and 2 children, 4 and 6 yrs old.
My family visited Taipei last Dec and at the recommendation of my Taiwanese good friend living in Taipei, we booked a room big enough for 2 adults and 2 children (11 and 10) at Rido hotel in the Da-an area. Our kids are big and we'll have to look at 2 bedrooms in most hotels anywhere we travel, which can be costly if it's a long trip. So this was a good option.
The hotel is in the residential yet bustling area, very near to the famous yong kang Lu where you find famous beef noodle, Japanese ramen restaurant and of course Ding Tai fung was a short 5 mins walk away. There are also shops selling local savouries and market where you can have a peep at the life style of the Taiwanese.
The hotel is small but well equipped. We took the European royalty room which comes with a big king sized bed and I paid a little more just for an extra single bed. I recommend anyone who is looking for comfort and value to try out this hotel. The room is of good size and has a very large bathroom, it comes with basic amenities in the room and is clean and comfortable. It is not far away, 3-4 mins from Da an station ( under construction in dec but not sure if it's open now) and about 8 mins from the two other stations. Taxi isn't expensive in Tapiei so it's also convenient if you decided not to take the subway.
For NT3800 a night ( tax included) this is really not a bad choice. Our room is actually meant for 3 pax so it comes with 3 sets of local or American breakfast delivered to your room. Basic stuff but good enough for a simple breakfast in your room without wasting time. -
Their beds are usually 2 singles or 1 double (Queen). It will be tight to squeeze 4 pax on a double bed.
There are many hotels with triple/quad/family rooms. And some hotels come with breakfast. Assuming you booked a triple room, you get 3 breakfast.
I'll suggest you be transparent and tell them you have 2A2C.queendom:

We'll be going CJ this Nov and I've booked Winlu minsu. It is not near to Green Green Grassland though. Reason why I booked this minsu is because it comes with breakfast and dinner (weekday) and the room rates are relatively cheaper. Unlike other posh/atas minsu near GGGL, this minsu is smaller in scale and most importantly, we get to interact with the owners.

If it is not a weekend/public holiday, you can purchase the HSR tickets when you are in Taiwan. However, if you do pre-book online, you are entitled to early bird discount.
You may email Flying Cow Ranch to make your bookings.thumbelina:
Planning to visit Taipei in Dec and go Leo Foo Village and Windows on China. Just wondering if it's ok to buy the High Speed Rail Ticket on the day itself as the weather can be unpredictable in Dec.
Also, planning to stay at Flying Cow. Anyone can advise how to go about booking 2 nights stay at Flying Cow.
Thanks in advanced. -

Better to buy in advanced HSR tickets though it's usually not fully sold. If not wrong, u can rearrange to change to another day & time for purchased tickets. The last time I did was changed the timing as I arrived at the HSR station very much earlier than the purchased ticket time. The counter staff jus changed for me without extra costs. To play safe, you may like to check with the counter staff before your purchase.thumbelina:
