if the HB is a spendthrift, btr for wife to manage the $$. provided wife is not those "Wah u spend so much, so must I type" LOL.

my hb "squander" every single cent of his salary. the fixed allowance he gives me, he will never get to see. cos once he sees, its sayonara $$.

ok squander is a too strong word, but 1k is the average spend per mth. on petrol food drinks top up cash card blah blah blah. and whoever says 1k can maintain a household must be out of sync.

I think my DH will :faint:if he has to surrender all his money to me. He manages money well on his own and gives me about 30% of his pay for the kids and my expenditure (including marketing/insurances). I am okay with the arrangement knowing that he is quite balanced in both saving and spending. However, if one day he decides to \"handover\" everything to me, I'd GLADLY do so! 😂

We have a joint a/c and it is 50/50 for all expenses. Hubby will give me a lumpsum, say $20K for that a/c. Once it is running low, I’ll remind him to top-up. All household expenses are managed by me, unless big items, then we’ll discuss. We don’t monitor or discuss our personal a/cs.

My hubby pays for almost all day to day stuff, less my meals at work.

He gives me a little allowance every month, coz I want him to get used to the idea that must give me some $ in case I do become a SAHM.

For big ticket items, usually I will pay for it as the daily expenses wipe out almost all of his income.

My husband gives me a monthly allowance and if I need to buy big ticket items i would ask more from him. But he doesn’t have a joint account with me. Is it because he doesn’t trust me enough?

We do not have joint account. He does not give me pocket money. We dont have any rule who pays what in the house. We do not keep track of our spending so this is no good!

Starting from Jan 2013, we will save 100% of my salary minus credit card bill. We will only spend from his salary. Hopefully this will work for us!

We do not have a joint account. However, he will transfer $x to me every month. It’s the co-pay for kids’ enrichment classes, maid, car, etc…

We manage our finances separately. For big item, it depends on who volunteers to pay. Sometimes me, sometimes him.

I don’t know how much he has and he is not clear of mine too. For dining out, usually he will pay but sometimes I would volunteer to if he just bought some big ticket stuff/ depends on my mood…

This works very well for us.

this is a good way, to give a lump sum and u will ask for more when it is running low... only thing is, do u monitor how long it takes to use up the whole amount? will ur dh justify the way u use it?

it is still good to hv a rough idea of how much each of u have in ur personal acc... just incase any big expenses is needed, like hospital/medical (touchwood), and u wun need to pinpoint at each other to ask why so low and this and that..

this is a good habit, to ask for money from dh even when u said his salary is almost wipe out after deducting expenses... if ur dh doesnt complain, just let it be...
