      My personal experience:

1 thing good about MA is that the school will try their best to let the same teacher to guide the same group of students throughout the years.

Another thing that I liked about MA: during public holidays that fall on weekends the classes will continue - this way I do not fear about make-up or temporary go to other slots which the teachers do not know my children styles.

Will still continue to monitor MA 🙂

it seems most of the students who joined MA is K1 or P1… anyone’s child joined the upper primary classes? like P4 and P6… they have PSLE classes as well… anyone has feedback?

                    Hi everyone,

I've enrolled my DD now K2 in Morris Allen Simei branch. Lesson starts this week. Not sure how will the lesson be & wonder if my DD is able to understand the pronunciation of the teachers. 🙂

                      Hi,

My child has completed the 4 trial lessons with MA at Simei and I have decided not to continue with it.

IMO, lessons taught weekly are too simple…my child is in K2 but what they taught seems like nursery level. I’m not sure about other branches, but this branch, the lesson would start off with:

                      1) singing a few songs with actions.
                      2) teacher reads a story book, sometimes they would play a DVD of the same story and let the kids watch.
                      3) after watching the DVD story, teacher would ask the kids some questions and the kids would just shout their answers out.
                      4) discussion would be reinforced by doing drawing/colouring/cut of pictures and pasting of pictures.

That’s about it…no book review as promised. I was ‘lucky’ as during 1 of the session, it was their Open Week for parents. So I got the chance to sit in throughout and watched how the teacher conducted the lessons.

Hi babybob, I had similar experiences as u at MA.

At the beginning of K1 was quite concern tat my kid was not able to do independent reading so wanted to arouse some interest. He likes the MA teacher n they did borrow books every week n do reviews as there was written work. They listen to stories n do worksheet on comprehension. Got art n crafts too. So maybe lessons carried out depends on teachers.

But he was still not reading after a few months so I decided to focus on phOnics learning instead in K2 (better late than never). Tried Read In a Week n there was some effect as his pre-school teacher noticed he is reading. But felt kind of stagnant progress after 6 months.

So now trying out LCentral - pretty impressed as their learning materials are the most organised among the 3. But I believe much depends on the teacher’s delivery of lesson. So far my son is making improvement as there is this decoding skill tat is missing from previous 2 learning centres. They also have impressive Reading passages for comprehension. Felt why didn’t I find this earlier.

Was contemplating to try the Alternative Story but cant find suitable timing. Maybe blessing in disguise as I may find tat they don focus on reading again.
