Overall % for reflected in the report bk for p5 geppers have included the marks for ss.

Do we need to compute it to exclude the marks for ss when keying into the system?

            Hi

I would like to know the following:

            1. GAT test registration for Cedar Girls need to be done via http://www.gat.sg. I want to know is the test online? Or where have to go for the test. Nothing is specified in the website.

            2. All the schools are asking for certified true copy of the school result. Do I need to attested the xerox copy of the result book by the school ?

            3. Will there be any open house for Tanjong Katong Girls School. I saw last year it held in Oct. So it will be the same this year also ?

Appreciate if someone can answer my questions. Thanks.

Received this from the Vice-Principal of Victoria, Mr Boy Eng Seng.

                Dear Parents / Potential Victorians,

Thank you for your interest in Victoria School. I would like to invite you to our Open House which is taking place tomorrow (Sat). Registration will start at 0800 hrs and the Principal’s welcome address will take place at 0900 hrs in the Auditorium. The details on the Open House can be found here.

Below are our responses to some FAQs posted by you :

                (A) DSA (INTEGRATED PROGRAMME)

Q1. Is it compulsory for students in the Integrated Programme to take Higher Chinese or Chinese History? My child is not taking Higher Chinese in his primary school and he’s not very strong in Chinese. His average marks is 80+%. Is the IP programme suitable for him?

Ans : All IP students will offer Higher Mother Tongue (except for languages that have no higher mother tongue like Hindi). This is because students who pass the HMTL O-Level exams at Sec 4 will not be required to offer H1 Mother Tongue at A-Level which means one subject less to offer. This is an advantage to the students.

Q2. Do you offer 4-year programme leading to O levels but not thru DSA?

Ans : Yes, students can apply to VS through MOE central posting after their PSLE results are released.

Q3. I would like to know if a personal statement is required as part of the application (not explicitly stated in your website). If so, are there specific areas/topics that the school would like me to write about or it is my call?Thank you.

Ans : Yes. You may login to the online application form to take a look at the requirements of the personal statement.

Q4. In the website, it was mentioned we need to submit ‘Certified true copy of the P4,P5 and P6 results’. Does it mean we would need the school to endorse the photocopied results?thanks!

Ans : Yes and we only need the certified true copy at the interview stage.

Q5. Does VS have a minimum requirement for applicants’ average score in P4, 5 and 6 for the DSA IP? Also, can students studying IP choose to learn Higher Chinese if they wish?

Ans : We do not have a minimum requirement for the applicants’ average score in P4/5/6. However, due to limited places, the admissions committee will choose the best from the pool of applicants hence those with good P4/5/6 will stand a better chance. All IP students will offer Higher Mother Tongue.

                (B) DSA (SPORTS / INTEGRATED PROGRAMME)

Q1. Please advise the trial dates for DSA VIA HOCKEY.

Ans : The trial dates will be out after 1 July and only shortlisted applicants will be notified.

                © DSA (SPORTS / O-LEVEL)

Q1. For DSA sports /O-level,does he need to take the GAT TEST that mean paper test?

Ans : No, only applicants who are applying for the integrated programme need to sit for the GAT test.

                (D) GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q1. Do your school conducd Music Elective Program ?

Ans : No, we don’t. We have Art Elective Programme and Regional Studies Programme.

Q2. I’d like to know if my child can apply for both DSA (Sports/O-level) and DSA (Sports/Integrated Programme) at the same time?

Ans : The child only needs to apply for DSA (Sports / Integrated Programme), in the event that the child is not found suitable for the Integrated Programme but the O-Level programme, the school will counter offer DSA (Sports / O-Level)

Q3. Can my son apply directly for the general ability test or he must apply via the online DSA form first pls?

Ans : Your child may register for the GAT test before applying to VS via the online form.

Hope to see you tomorrow at our Open House. Regards.

I have checked with RI and was replied that no need to key in the Overall% reflected on the report book. Key in the results of English, Mother Tongue, Math and Science, the Overall% will be automatically computed from the online system. Thus SS is not taken into account. For HCI DSA application, the Overall% is not required to key in.

No need. Just go in whatever you're comfortable in. Actually one year I saw some kids attending Open House in their prefect uniforms with all sorts of leadership badges and my first thought was - 'Who are they trying to impress?' Wrong signal, if you know what I mean.

                    Like at a military parade ? 😉

I think the kids can just turn up in a school t-shirt to be comfortable and still join a group of their own school friends if they want to.

How difficult is the GAT ?

                        Not very difficult...
                        Like pictorial IQ tests.
                        Lots of students clear GAT...
                        It's the 2nd round that's the killer.

                        Hi,

Would appreciate anyone to advise what sorts of questions GAT test on? Something outside the textbooks? How many rounds of tests are there?

                        TIA.
