Aniwaes I guess I can clarify..

1. Many refers to the guys our team (of volunteers) meet... from families of the under privileged children/dysfunctional families under our care... for counseling over their dysfunctional family issues... in which frequenting prostitutes is one of them. So if they want to work at rebuilding their marriages and families, they share. Yes... liberally.

Else, counselling won't work much. Honest sharings bring harsh truths but those are the needs to be heard... to start off with.

2. Many also refers to / comes from the acquaintances (frenz.. relatives.. colleagues.. etc) whom I've personally helped to stand by their family. In any way possible. Mediate.. listen.. take care of their kids while they talk it out.. refer them to associations with professional counsellors.. cook.. etc. different needs. I believe every marriage could use some help when or if the need arises.

For eg myself n hubs were caught in the middle of a heated verbal argument btwn our two frenz (both husband n wife) over some text messages. Hubs and I each took one spouse, him with our male friend and myself another corner of the house with the wife and we first listened.. next we mediated.. the following day we helped them clear the matter up. Husband admitted to infidelity. A truce with 3rd party. Followed by another listening session.. (wife ranted.. trashed.. cried.. screamed.. u name it..) then we played with their children/babysat them to let the couple talk it out.. Long story short, our friends are still together and had another baby.

3. Many also refers to /comes from the in your face discussions at the coffee shop over food with (hubs/mine) ex-colleagues who so blatantly share their trysts and exchange contacts (of girls and pimps!) :faint:

I take my marriage seriously and play my part to make mine work or improve it in any way I can within my means... :evil: For if hubs and I continue to be a happy couple.. we are grounded in our marriage.. have a healthy communication channel.. we make better parents who can love and raise our children without any ( or less :roll: ) distractions.

Yes, marriage does require some work.

I learnt it the hard way when my own union (that I thought was infallible) took a hard knock years ago. What didnt kill me only made me stronger.

I learnt that...

We cannot afford to be complacent and let things auto run.

We should be able to afford time.. some spices.. some appreciation for one another.. (a factor often overlooked).. lotsa communication (not related to only children).. and more love. Who doesn't want more love, right?

We should also be able to afford time for ourselves. Though we are joined together in marriage, we are still our own person.

..... and finally, how best to learn if not from the pitfalls of others? We can take from the learning experiences from others and reflect on ours. While none (marriages) can be perfect... it can be better. Not just stagnant.. Aedes mosquitoes breed on stagnant waters u know? Dangerous!

I gave mine (marriage) another shot, not just for our children.. But for us.
