Learning Point - Discussion

Mimama:
Thought they also have some compo writing or cloze passage in the test? Or what you had described was for K2 level?
what i described was ... entry level assessment into K2 level only, to assess if your child is suitable for their K2 programme, at Learning Point.
i am not sure about entry tests for P1 to P6.
what level is your child entering into, Mimama ?
perhaps parents whose child had taken entry tests from P1 to P6 can share & advise. Thank you. -
phtthp:
Yes, for P2 / P3, the kid will be required to do a simple test paper (grammar, vocab) with a compre passage, and write a short compo.Mimama:

Mimama:
Thanks phtthp. Is your child with LP? He/She enjoys the lesson?
No, she is not with LP. Still in the midst of evaluating appropriate centre. -

They will usually ask you for the preferred slot. If it is available, they will put your child’s name in that slot to reserve it while he / she sits for the placement test. It doesn’t have to be at the end of the year as long as there are available slots in that class. hth

any parent whose child had gone through lower primary P1 / P2 @ Learning Point ?
Do you see any improvement in your child's English written skill(s) todate ?
heard that P1 / P2 LP programme focus 50 % of her bulk on creative writing composition.
the remaining 50 % focus on compreh, grammar, cloze & oral.
Thank you very much, for kind precious feedback.

all outsider candidates are required to take an entry assessment test, to assess your child's English proficiency level, about 45 minutes to 1 hour - test your child readiness on:-
grammar, cloze passage(s), compreh and compo. Make sure you prepare you child or else you have to try 6 mths later.
LP (Thomson Plaza) is open from Mon - Sat.
LP (Simei) is closed on Mon, open from Tue - Sat.
both branches are closed on Sun, Public holiday(s).
perhaps due to recent MOE announcement on new changes to 2015 PSLE English language paper -
LP noted a surprise surge or an increase in demand in the number of 2013 P1 classes, as compared to previous past years. Many parents keen to lay a strong foundation, the earlier the better, instead of nearing towards P5 / P6. -
parents staying in the east, may take note of changes:-
next year around Feb 2013 -
Learning Point (Simei) branch will be shifting to Parkway Centre building (ie. Macdonald building, in Marine Parade). Parkway Centre is a busy, bustling booming place! Each and every floor has so many enrichment centre(s) housed in that tall building. Tao Nan SAP school, Ngee Ann, CHIJ Katong Convent, TKPS, Haig Girls, etc. are nearby around Katong, Joo Chiat area.
Learning Point will shift together with her sister school, \"Hua Cheng Chinese Education centre\". They are owned by the same owner.

after shifting, no more Simei (become history). -
Very true phttp…Parkway Centre is booming! All enrichments centres there are packed with kids every single day of the week (esp weekends).
They boast a wide range of courses and enrichment centres in a 1-stop location ranging from childcare, tuition classes, music, yoga, abacus, art, brain training…you name it - they have it:)
Good for Maths who are looking for 1-stop place for ther children:) -
hi Ran,
Simei Eastpoint Shopping Mall (at Simei MRT) going to start extensive renovation to the shopping centre, early beginning next year 2013. Thus, a lot of educational enrichment tenants there are scrambling high & low now to shift out of that shopping centre, start hunting alternative rental places.
think parents staying in Tampines, Pasir Ris, Bedok, Tanah Merah will much prefer LP to stay put at Simei. It's nearer for them - only 1 or 2 MRT stop away, for their Primary / Secondary school children taking enrichment lessons at LP Simei. This shift however, will ease parents with kids staying around East Coast, Chai Chee, Katong, Joo Chiat, Eunos, Kembangan, Marine Parade, Aljunied, Geylang, Kallang, Paya lebar, Lor Tai Seng - because Parkway Centre is nearer, compared to Simei. Since you are staying @ Marine Crescent, this is definitely a good move for you.
btw, \"P1 HeadStart\" programme for 2013 K2 kids (born 2007) - enrolment is full house now at Simei!
Parents keen to register their child will be placed on waiting list queue.

Some K1 / K2 teachers at Simei also go over to Thomson Plaza to teach, and vice versa.
Ms Choo is a good, patient and dedicated caring loving teacher.
