sorry, add one more question
4) for P2C, is the balloting day the same day as the ‘announcement of results’ day on 7 Aug? -
tinkertinker10:
Nope. Not the same day. The balloting date and time will show on the registration form that you applied from that school.sorry, add one more question

Anyone think before if using computerised method, if last minute cancel have to use origninal copies documents to cancel it. As what i know is now when registered first time have to have origninal copies but to cancel no need. But go to apply for the next school on last minute have to apply through original documents. So is to says next time sooner or later all schools accept computerised method , there will be no more last minute withdraw method anymore.Hi mummies,
I need some advise, I am under P2C within 1km for 2 schools, prefer school A that is walking distance but it is more popular than the school B. My questions are: -
1) will they announce how many seats are left for P2C after P2B? If yes, when will they announce?
2) can I call the school to check the status prior to registrating? Will they tell us how many SC or PR and their distance category(1KM. 1km-2km etc) and whether balloting is require?
3) is it advisable to wait till the last day to register? -
sc88:
Actually, most of the schools conduct balloting on the results announcement day.
Nope. Not the same day. The balloting date and time will show on the registration form that you applied from that school.tinkertinker10:

Number of vacancies will be announced before the start of the new phase.tinkertinker10:
Yes.2) can I call the school to check the status prior to registrating?
tinkertinker10:
This is the first year the new ruling sets in, so nobody knows. Perhaps you can let us know after the registration? My guess is that schools will just tell you which distance category balloting will be for, for who (SC or PR) and the number of applicants. Will they tell us how many SC or PR and their distance category(1KM. 1km-2km etc) and whether balloting is require?
tinkertinker10:
You may like to register with School A first and monitor the situation.3) is it advisable to wait till the last day to register?

a) for 2B
from your house in Bukit Panjang to NYPS is: more than 2 km.
last year 2011:
PVs both (outside 1 km & more than 2 km) - not given any chance to ballot.
They were all bypassed, inspite of clocking >= 80 PV hours.
so, do not PV / GRL for nothing.
refer here:

under phase 2B,
i) 2011 - for those staying more than 2 km:-
# of applications Received: 11.
but # of successful applicants: 0 (because those staying > 2km not given any chance to ballot).
All 28 PV / GRL who got in - stayed less than 1 km.
ii) 2010 - for those staying more than 2 km.
out of 22 PV / GRL who balloted, 7 got in. (still not so bad as 2011)
now, 7 out of 22 means ratio is 1:3
ie. out of every 3 kids, only 1 lucky child able to enter NYPS.
That shows how competitive / tough it is to get in, because NYPS is a co-ed school.
b) for 2C
If you are staying out of 1km from school, there will not be any chance at all, as balloting for 2C is all those within one km only.
check school website :-
- click under dropbox \"Admission\" for P1 enrolment data and balloting statistic.

If I have already registered my child during Phase 2A, can I withdraw him and re-register him on the same day under Phase 2B? Will the withdrawal be with immediate effect as thought might need to wait for the school to update the withdrawal into the MOE system before allowing to re-register again?

Some schools show their registration statistic on their school website, others may not, you may need to call up the school to check. The school will be able to tell you the numbers, the distance category and also able to advise you.Hi mummies,

Yes, you may register with the second school on the same day you withdraw your application from the first school. The system is updated instantaneously the moment you withdraw.
