Zhong hua not as popular as yangzheng is partly of it’s location.

If the chinese Standard in school is good due to the number of PRC students, then it is good . For Yang Zheng, despite it’s historical Chinese background, I don’t feel the school has really push itself to excel in chinese. The direction n background of the principal make a difference.
Every school have their fair share of good n not so good teachers. Even for Maris Stella which is nearby to serangoon though not grouped in serangoon schools but in Toa Payoh has it’s share of good n no so good teachers . But overall, the general standard at Maris Stella being a SAP school, is better compared to other schools like yangzheng , st gabriel or zhonghua is mainly because its ethic group of student are mainly Chinese with only a few Indians or Eurasians .

I was an old student of Yangzheng but have done PV for Holy Innocents’ as the latter is more convenient in terms of logistics. However, have heard that Yangzheng’s standards have improved over the years hence in a dilemma as to which school to apply now. Would appreciate some valuable advice.

If you don’t mind the inconvenience n the hassle of monitoring, register at yangzheng first under 2a , then monitor the take up rate at 2b in holy innocent. Are u within 1 km of the school n Singapore citizen , if so the chance should be quite good. Once very sure can get in to holy innocent without balloting or high chance to get in, u withdraw from yangzheng n apply to HI . A lot of parents have been doing that when come to registration.

I think his question wasn't so much on the chance of getting in, but rather, which was a better school.

Help! I am having trouble choosing between Kuo Chuan and Yangzheng Primary. I live at Lorong Chuan and both schools are less than 1 km for me. I am a PR too. So which school will be best for my son who is p1 at 2013? And we take Tamil as our MT. Please help us. Thank you 🙂 🙂

Didnt know kuo chuan is within 1 km from lor chuan.I thought it is more than 1 km . It is church based school where as Yang Zheng is more of govt sch.

Since u are a PR , the distance doesn’t matter. Priority will be given to spore citizens first even if the spore citizen stays as far as Jurong.
Based on last year record, both schools need balloting at 2C . Assuming those need balloting are spore citizens , u will have no chance to be balloted at all. U are behind the queue of spore citizens irregardless of the fact that u stay within 1 km.

U may want to go for school like zhong hua that need no balloting at all . But not sure about this year as the number of vacancy seems to be cut .There may be balloting even at zhong hua. But traditionally , it is not as popular as yangzheng or kuo chuan.
