faintz, the article wasn't about respect but more on hurting the child emotional and about emotional abuse and scarring.

NS different LOL, even NPCC and NCC is the start of forcing authority but it did teach severe discipline, not be tardy and taking care of your things if not you get punished.

DS was down with flu last Thursday. Fever of over 40 deg. He was so drowsy he slept for 2 days straight. Waking up only when we wake him for food and meds. His fever broke on the 3rd day and he was a lot better. But no rest for me cos now DD and DH are down with high fever and body aches yesterday. More sleepless nights checking DD’s temp and sponging her.

Cannot help but question the objective of the homework that the teachers dish out for DS for the holiday.


Journal and booklist I understand. But the e-learning homework…haiz. I was scolding DS for taking such a long time to complete the e-learning task and telling him to stop complaining. Last night, logged in to check why he has not completed. Realised why he hated it. It was a typing exercise. Which is fine but the whole assignment has 4 levels, each level has 3 stages, each stage has 20 exercises. Yes, they tried to make the thing interactive by adding animation and sound but after 2 to 3 exercises, it becomes totally tedious.

And I really question, what it the purpose of making P1 kids sit there and type?

The other one is Chinese. For his chinese holiday assignment, he has to make a story book. As in come up with the story, write it and illustrate. Not much details were given, just a one liner saying to make a Chinese story book. I wonder if this is an assignment for the kids or their parents. P1 to make up a story, write it and illustrate. When all the school has been teaching the 1st semester was han yu pin yin.

Really, why do schools assign holiday homework that really makes no sense. The Chinese storybook, ok, still relevant, just that it will be a huge challenge for P1 kids. But typing??? Cannot get over that.
