        hi mic,

Happy88mum, any poems u can find, i use her drama and speech class poems, and those from library /books.. are u in shichida methods? if u r then u should know we use CD(Audio) to play the addition and multiplication for them..u can get from tensai shop.another way to train her memory, ask her to remmeber ur marketing list, i do that often with her now.. she can remember most of it, miss out some, but good training.

the SM maths do not work much for my girl, but i still play it as my boy is absorbing fast.. he can tell me the answer of the addition now.. i use drilling for my girl, just ownself write out the addition for her to do.. she is now able to do addition up to 30 plus.. meanings 20+3 = ? ; 30+2=? etc..

worksheet is 1 day 1 sheet, not much, a lot of it u can download from website..do more linking memory i feel which is more useful. worksheet i feel is to get them to do the routine, which i think useful when u start early like 2 yo.. get them to sit down everyday to do 1 sheet per day.. then flash cards..they will get used to the routine..

              Hi

My gal is going to P1 next year. Is attending P1 preparation course necessary? What does the course usually cover?

                subjective.

depends on your child’s kindergarten - whether they prepare them enough for P1. Various kindergarten differ in academic standard.

                i)
if you think your child’s kindergarten is insufficient in preparing them, can visit any MindStretcher branch, closest your home. Request to take a look at their sample K2 worksheets (English & Maths). Just politely ask, "may i take a look at K2 English & Maths worksheets ?" They allow customers to stand there at the admin counter & review. As you flip through those K2 worksheets, you’ll know what are the topics they cover for P1 Prep.

when your child bring back worksheets from his kindergarten -
when you check / flip through, you’ll know the kindergarten standard. Your gut feel can tell. If the worksheets are a few miserable pieces / pages and content too simple, then perhaps good to attend.

                ii)
however, if your child comes from a reliable (not fake one) Montessori kindergarten, then perhaps no need - esp. if their daily Montessori curriculum had been modified to suit / cater to MOE P1 Preparation requirements. Then, maybe just go for Chinese enrichment, esp. if their daily Chinese kindergarten core curriculum is weak.

according to MOE, no need for P1 preparatory class, they stress many times, and they said all kindergarten should be able to prepare the child to primary 1… but parents are too kiasu they prepare them for P1… by the time these kids go to P1, they know most things so those din go to such classes, felt left out and their parents also will send them to classes… never ending… sigh…
