I call this 'panda politics'

      Has always been.
Try to be funny? - Give u 2 black eyes! 😆

On a more serious note, China by using its panda diplomacy
appeases d Malaysian public by showing dat they r in a special selective group of countries dat China views favourable.

watch out for my kungfu panda, he will :nunchuk: :spank: :pokeeye: :torchme: :heresmyfish: you
btw I thought pandas are in abundance in China so giving them out seems NOT a special gesture right?

Orang-utans r not indigenous to SG leh.

Per Chinese customs on gift-giving, it proper to return gifts of at least equal value, right?
We only hv ppl resource, so maybe my suggestion not too far off lah! :rotflmao:

pandas in China is the top top grade national treasure

to be given (actually is a 10 year R&D loan) is to signify a strong and valued friendship between the two countries

Bolehland cannot tahan Red Dot got the pair of black dots, so must also have

Red Dot's one up bragging right is zerorised overnight and so ST just kept silent about it

Pandas are seen as precious commodity to China.

They have higher value compared to sun bears, or polar bears which have to hunt food. Pandas are lucky lot, they get special bamboo grown for them to eat. Malaysia should have no prob growing bamboo.

If China gives Malaysia pandas, what can Malaysia give in return?

              Panda is endangered species,
though d Chinese hv managed to increase d pop in recent years.
They (d pandas, not d Chinese! :rotflmao: ) generally don't breed well in captivity.

Pandas r given only to very selective countries.
It is not an outright gift, any panda born in other countries must be returned to China.

d type of bamboo panda eats is indigenous to Sichuan.
I also wonder wat they feed these pandas with in other countries?

what I read was that the bamboo must be of certain grade and only from China

Pandas supposed to arrive here have delayed their trip :rotflmao: maybe bcos enclosure not ready and insufficient bamboo. When pandas arrive, hope they bring just bamboo from Sichuan, not LuLu as well...hehehe.

Newly converted Singaporeans can’t blend in with our culture. How can those pandas eat satay and D24? The pandas taste buds very fussy, must eat that special bamboo. Stressful to take care of such treasures. These bears cannot die…or else minister in charge will have head chopped off.
