I wonder if they are digging records of his old claims or these are new overseas visits he made.

Once one is on d radar, CPIB will dig deeper going back older records.

Well, if that is the case, then bring on all the bosses who approved the claims. It is a party, isn't it? He should not bear this alone, rock and roll. If it is new records, then he never learns the lesson of the recent reports on all the cases, sorry, can't help then, face the music.

I used to use an iron-fist when it came to expense claims, to avoid such investigations. If my disgruntled ex-staff are reading this now, be glad that there have been no investigation on them. I feel negligent bosses who approved such claims are just as guilty, though not of the illegal act directly, but not doing their job of reviewing potential wrong doing when paid the bucks, just so to remain popular with staff or on the pretext of not sweating over small stuff as someone in a high position. Whatever the excuses, I find approving parties are trusted positions not to be abused. A careful review at that stage could have saved this investigation today. People can be given a chance to reform, especially if some parameters are unclear to them at the point it happened. If there is no expense claim, it is at best a personal expense.

oh.. elite group, membership by invitation only?
Elite sounds like a bad word.
I happen to agree dat those who gave of themselves wholeheartedly for d public gud,
n not be lured (truly, not perceived) by greener pastures elsewhere truly deserves the gahmen taking care of them when they grow old.

I did selective micro-management as it was IMPOSSIBLE to micro-manage in my portfolio. I did that for what was important to people's livelihood. It was my way of protecting and providing stewardship to some \"moment of folly\" staff.

To be candid, I would think all those up in the line need to be reprimanded as well in his case for negligence to pick up his moment of folly, regardless of how high up they are. Is it not their job to provide stewardship other than looking at it as micro-management?

Oh...are you saying there is a limit to how high the investigation can go? :siam:

I thought the annual audit from the AG - Auditor General - should have highlighted all these ?

Everytime they caught a senior level CS, the small fry civil servants got hit really bad. Bosses will ask "you are just a clerk, how come can have LV bags? I want to check your bank account." Please. LV bags is not something so unaffordable if a person saves.
