      Hi,
Refer to the above link, there is this mummy giving away her preloved P1 textbooks - maybe you would like to contact her? 😄

Hi my gal has this question from her June Math homework sheet.

Am not sure what it’s asking. Can someone enlighten me please?

"There are 5 red balls and 5 blue balls in a box. If I take out any 6 balls from both boxes, how manybred balls could I have picked?"

I am a little confused… Are the red n blue balls in the SAME box or in 2 boxes? Thought there is something not quite right with the question.

            Help!

I agree with the answer. But, the Q still seems vague. Will the child understand it is referring to the maximum number of balls? The child can take it as any number of red balls and answer it as 1 for the minimum number of balls?? Assessment book aside, is this a valid question in school tests and exams?

the Q means putting 5 red balls and 5 blue balls in a box (same box)
if u randomly pick up 6 balls from the box, maximum number of red balls that could have pick is 5 red balls and 1 blue balls.

Answer is 5 red balls 🙂

I thought the answer is 5 red balls too but one part of the question says "6 balls from both boxes…" so I got confused! Maybe there is a typo or just wring English.

This is from my P1 girl’s practice worksheet.

Thanks for all the help. Maths sure is tough nowadays!

I mean like for parents, they should also learn maths with their children too!

Hi Jav think I will clarify with the teacher.

Yes, yomemai, I am also re-learning maths withmy girl. The problem is I have never liked maths so it’s a chore to relive my school years all over again!
Guess being parents in Spore, we dont hace a choice. Think am gonna look for a tutor for her as I just dont have the patience to coach.

Hi Michaelia0816, thank you for the reply… 😄

Hi mrswongtuition, thank you for the reply and the suggestion on the use of different colour, that will really help the little one to visualise… 😄

Just wondering, if the school did not teach, is it ok for the child to apply this concept when answering questions during homework time?
Alternatively you may use these interlocking cubes that are 1cm each to illustrate the problem as well.

It is also something hands on and similar to things that they come across and use in schools.
