Anderson Primary

Agreed with Daddy’s wife. My child is in P3. Think with the recent change of principal and vice-principal, situation really worsen. Think other schools in AMK are catching up ie. Mayflower Primary.

Haha, I also agree its over rated. But I thought so even before I sent my boy to school. Coz no one could tell me what’s so good about Anderson.
anyway, there aren’t many choices in amk. Aitong gotta ballot within 1 km. cat high all need to ballot within 1 km. And st Nics too.
Think the new principal still needs some time to hold her ground. She’s after all a newbie and was transferred from hq. If u have a gal, can try Marymount. Find that they have more concrete plans on what to do with the kids. Even for P1, they had camps during the sch hols. and before the term ended, they had lots of outings. Nothing much if any was done at Anderson. -
Hi mashy, daddy’s wife, Belinng, Sunflower,
Many many thanks for your inputs. They really help. I was in quite a dilemma between Anderson and Kuo Chuan. I find that Anderson seems to be more reputable. But somehow something tells me that Kuo Chuan may be more suitable for my child. I take into consideration of his character and personality. Of course, I don’t know the schools inside out, but it’s just based on whatever understanding I have of the schools and my gut feel.
With all your inputs, I think I’ve much better idea! They do help to confirm some of my thoughts.
My child is a boy, so St Nics i out, and Ai Tong, there’s no chance of getting in.
I did hear that Teck Ghee is pretty good now, due to the VP being from Anderson. And I do read from the forum that Mayflower Pri seems, quite good, but I’m not sure yet, as have not done much research.
Any inputs on Teck Ghee and Mayflower is welcome! -
Hi mashy,
I’m agree that good discipline is important. I’m just quite careful because my boy is the type who takes to the softer approach rather than the hard approach. Btw, is the bully situation in Anderson quite bad? Is it quite common in schools or it’s particularly bad for Anderson? -
Hi daddy’s wife,
May I know what do your kids actually complain about?
And you mention that the quality of the teachers is not very good, so I suppose their teaching method would also not be that fantastic and thus do they rely on a lot of homework to drill the kids?
Hi Sunflower74,
Can you elaborate more abt “situation really worsen”? -
where is Anderson Primary? At Yio Chu Kang?

As parents, we can only trust the teachers to handle it well. I’m sure no teacher will resort to hard approach if they have not tried soft first and it didn’t work. We as parents would also try soft first and if it didn’t work, we will move on to the next. It would be presumptuous of us to reproach the teachers because of that. Even if they used hard approach, what will u do? Will U be one of those who make police reports over such things?
I’m not sure how is the bully situation in Anderson compared to other schools. After all, we just hear some isolated cases here and there. I’m sure all schools have bullies. -
Hi Daddy’s wife,
My son is in 5.6. -
Actually, I prefer Mayflower but my mum finds that it have a lot of slopes and the canteen is in the basement… So since I am previously from Li Hua, my son need not ballot for Anderson, I just go for Anderson.

My daughter is gg to P1 next yr, so thinking of trying for St Nic if there is no balloting within 1km. But also heard that it is quite stressful and when the kids results are not gd, the teacher actually call the parents to ask them to send the kids for tuition outside or consider changing school…
