Gosh....are you kidding me? It looks exactly like my bike!!
I owned this kind of foldable bike since some 15 years ago and I bought it at S$200-300+. It was a high quality one but I forgot the brand. I have recently given it to my MIL. She must be laughing in her dreams now if she knows such bikes can cost 2.2k these days. :faint:

Looks like a good business opportunity has just presented itself. :rubhands:

Ya boy, you are in France right? You need a partner here? :evil:
Let's prosper together! :celebrate:

Can't see how that bicycle in the picture is worth s$2.2k

And what a lousy answer - follow procurement procedure !!!
Must check on that person who approved the purchase. Maybe same situation as the SCDF and Gay case. :evil:

They bought Bromptons. Bromptons are handmade in UK. The bike can be easily folded in 3 steps and push around after folding and bring up mrt or bus. There are 2 wheels that allow easy pushing after folding. So far, there are other branded folding bikes at $1k+, the Dahon but Dahon do not have wheels to push after folding. If the purpose is to allow cyclists to use the bike and easy access woth public transport, Brompton is a good choice.

http://www.brompton.co.uk/

However,there is time limitation on bringing folding bikes Up mrt and bus. Weekdays are from 9.30 to 4.30 and 8.30 till end of service. Weekends and public holidays all day access.

I am a little doubtful......why need folding bikes when:--

A) NParks staff do not need to take folding bikes to MRT;
B) speed of folding bikes loose out to racing bikes or mountain bikes;
C) is there a parking space problem in NParks that need folding when not in use?
D) for the same price I can buy a good mountain bikes.

πŸ˜† my sentiments when I read about them being foldable - although you are more precise than my bemusement allowed me to be.

Perhaps they have to drive from NPark office to different parks, so the bicycles need to be folded? Then again there is always the bicycle rack for cars.
Khaw defends NParks' decision to buy Brompton bicycles...
As to why Brompton was picked, he said that only one vendor had responded to the tender, and after noting that the Brompton bid price was lower than the listed retail price of the same model, NParks proceeded with the procurement.
'Cyclists who are familiar with foldable bikes assured me that a Brompton bike, while costing more upfront, is durable and requires less maintenance, especially if heavy usage is anticipated,' Mr Khaw said.
Sometimes it's better not to say anything... :siam:

don’t expect them to say "it is a mistake, cycle on".

Not all parks have places to store bikes - like Botanic Gardens lah. Probably they put the bike in their truck and drive to whichever place. Check on trees/plants, etc, etc. Some are remote.
