Thanks for ur MPH sales feedback. I am gg after work. Now ‘die die’ must go. -
Hi
There is another book sales coming up:
http://www.singapore-expo.com.sg/index.php?option=com_events&task=event_details&id=326&Itemid=38
They dun't hold it every year. Few year back when i went, bought a lot ladybooks at $1. -
yup, saw the penguin sale on expo website - but I can’t recall going there. Thanks for the tips.
Felt that mph sale quite alright - the books are on tables and quite alrightly arranged (not difficult to browse through). BUT…only 3 cashiers…it took us about half an hour to pay. -

Hi all kind mummy,chuaeil:
Hi,any mommy can advice me?My dd is only 14 months and i am trying very hard to read her a story book.
As your DD is only 14mths, try to find books that have short stories.
Their attention span is much shorter and they tend to wanna fidget a
lot which is normal for kiddies that age. You are definitely not alone
here.
At this age they may not be able to be entertained by
the usual/common fairy tales yet so books can be thematic like abt...
Things around the home... Baby toys... Colours... Vehicles... Family...
(etc). Or it cud be counting books with lift the flaps as well.
It preferably should have big and colourful illustrations. And also big
prints. There are even soft books (cushiony books), plastic books
( waterproof and can bring even for bath! ) touchy-feely
books and big books.chuaeil:
This is normal. You can start with lap reading. Put DD on your lap facingMyself not a book lover since young cos dont have that kind of habbit but i dont mind to start reading again for my dd but no matter how i read to her she will want to hold the book and keep turning the pages and aft that she will just put the book on the floor and do her things so i try to read to her during her sleep time when she is drinking her milk and that will keep her still. Is this Normal for a 14 month old girl? Pls advice what should i do. Thank you very much.
the book. Milk reading can be a few times a day, so don't have to limit
reading to only bed time.
If she turns the pages, it is ok. You may say one word that describes the
pictures DD looks at..... (the page that she flipped to); before she quickly
turns to the next page or pages. If she leaves you, leaves the book
somewhere or leaves the room, you may still consider to finish it aloud.
Though DD may not be physically there looking at the pages, she is
definitely listening.
thanks for your advice, she likes balls and airplane so i will try to read to her but she only likes to look at the balls only so she will turn to the page and said 'ball' and smile, thats all. I try to read to her even she walked away but sometime really find myself very silly. I find it so difficult to get her to read and i dont know is she like reading anot. I saw alot of you got amazing result but mine is like... so i dont know how to train her to love reading.
Cheers

Hi again. Oh? Your DD likes balls?
I've met up a very small almost 2yr old boy who came to our reading table at the library and pointed to us all the different balls in one of our books.
I flipped, then he pointed to a picture and said, \"Rugby ball.\"
I flipped again. Then he pointed to a picture and said, \"Basketball.\"
Then, he continued with, \"Baseball.\" And a few other balls in the book that i cannot recall now. But for a small boy.. Knowing the correct names of THAT many balls.... i find it quite impressive.
I suddenly remembered this boy after you shared your DD likes balls.

haha....is it. My girl like tomboy, she likes balls but she dont know different type of ball but she knows what is basketball, whenever she sees basketball she will use her hand pretend as she is playing the ball, thanks to the Hi 5, haha....
dont know when she will start ask me to read her a story book, i would be very happy when the days come. I am thinking sending her to spech and drama class to get her more interested in story books. Any advice on this?

Hey, DAISO outlets sells different kinds of balls at $2 one pack. I think there are three different balls in a pack. Give her the real thing to play with and see whether it might interest her to match the variety of balls to the pages in the books! Speech and drama will be more on honing her social skills and stimulate her speech ability. Not so much in reading training but it may interest her to pick up books as the trainers are usually very animated when sharing stories to their students. A lot of drama..
I like. You can go for a trial class if you're interested. Try to find out more about their lessons to gather more details to ensure that is the kinda programme you want for your child and the skills that you are hoping she would pick up from attending regularly.

Hi hquek,
Did you only order the 15 books set? Did you use borderlinx UK options to ship? I m keen to buy, but not sure which option to choose. S$70 is including shipping & books right?hquek:
Just got my order from bookpeople. The books are in good condition - but the box cover (for Roald dahl set) were a bit damaged. Anyway, after postage, the cost of the Roadl Dahl 15 book set is about S$70 - still very worth it despite the shipping hiccups.
