Hi, was wondering why so many parents want to let their kids travel long distance juz to enter a so-called ‘good’ school. Isnt it silly to have the poor kid wake up at 5.30am & travel 45-60mins every morning? And the journey home is not any shorter. No offense meant, juz that this is the very same question thrown to me as I’m one of those ‘silly ones’.

LOL - it's only a 15mins distance for us and our kids also wake between 530-6pm. Maybe bc they have to fight for bathroom time. haha.

you are not alone, i have the same question and i am one of the old boy from the school. my house is not near/beside the school (me in sengkang). i trying to find compelling reason why the inconvenience justified the benefit of being in the school. Definitely being in the \"branded\" school is not in my consideration, there should be a deeper reason than just superficial reason. Branded school comes with cost such as stress/pressure and maybe more tution (cost) and time...most people thought of the benefits but not the cons. What is the point of sending kid to the school to warm the seat for the next better one? 😄

Does being in a \"branded\" school meant better result? or reverse fate?

                  Hi lchunleo,

P1 & P2 is usually honeymoon years for the kids, heard there is no exam till term 4 in P2, however there is regular assessment. Kids are fast learner and adapts to enviornment faster then adult, do not be overly concern especially if they join a school from P1,they will make friends in no time. My boy used to stay in Hougang St.91 with my parents, the school bus will pick him up at 0615am and there's already a boy living in tampine on the bus. No big deal for kids as they can sleep on the bus 🙂

CHS is a good school and teacher are very responsible and concern about the progress of their students. You should not give up your 100% confirm place in CHS. CHS has an affiliated sec school & going IP soon, this is a big advantage for CHS primary boys, as they will usually have lower cut-off points for their boys to go CHS sec school compared to boys from other schools.

As Cherrygal mentioned, many will kill to get in hence consider carefully. In China people is willing to travel 2-3 hours one way on public transport to study into a good school, in Japan people travel 3-4 hours one way on the public transport to go to work, Spore is so small, put your boy on school bus. If it really gets too tough to manage then transfer him to a nearby school at a later date P3/P4.

                  Just my 2 cents...

My DS wakes up at 5.45am, the school bus comes at 6.15am, and DS reaches school at 6.45am, every school day.. Tired? Sometimes, when DS sleeps late at night. Otherwise, he is as energetic as a bull, and can still play soccer before school assembly at 7.15am.. 😉

Yes, CHS Wushu is currently coached by Vincent Ng's Wushu School.

Apparently, the previous coach was not producing results, deemed favourable by the Principal. Hence, he was ''asked to leave'', and thereafter, CHS engaged VN's Wushu School to take over the training of its Wushu Team.

Wushu by VN's school? Yipee... checked the classes held at nearby community centre, but also full. But is it for selected boys only?

We went to the Family Day on Sat for a look-see and to join in the fun.
Happy that we made the trip there cos we liked the environment and we also observed the students' general behaviour... *Like* 😄

So excited that we will be registering DS1 on Fri.
And am starting to prepare myself (not so much my DS - ha ha ha) for the early start and the drive to school....
