My gal has been attending CMA for 2 years (once a week) now and currently at arithmetic abacus grade 9 and mental abacus grade 8. Recently I noticed that her interest seem to be diminishing and she is not keen to do her CMA homework.

She is currently in P1 and has school work as well as paino lesson/practice...
I am comtemplating to discontinue her CMA lesson.... However my gal said that she would like to continue CMA, she told me that she likes to attend the CMA lesson but does not like to do the homework :slapshead:

Now I am faced with the dilemma of the following options:
(a) terminate her CMA with the risk that all CMA abacus knowledge that she has learnt will be wasted; or (b) to continue her CMA at another branch due to logistics reason; or (c) to switch her to 3G abacus (not sure if it makes sense but was told no homework, still thinking hard)....

Would welcome recommendation or suggestions from kind souls out there...

Hi, I am thinking of put my kid at CMA Bedok. Any parent who has ds/dd there ? Is this a good center to go to ? Any particular teacher i should request for ? My kids are in P1 and K2.

I understand from my teacher friend that rote-learning is not welcomed in school anymore. Is CMA rote-learning? She was telling me that many eager parents send their kids to centres that are not so \"MOE-based\" and when the kids reach p3, they can't do the problem sum questions well. I also understand that teachers in school does not give full marks to problem sum questions if the answer is there but the workings are not. The MOE, it seems, is encouraging kids to process information and not just do calculation well. Can someone shed light whether CMA will be bad /useful in the long run? :?
