Ok, so everyone loves world peace and no one stand up to those obviously wrong teachings (not talking about different interpretations by different denominations).

The kingdom of God shrinks because a huge group of believers are, well, not believing in the right stuff. Doesn't it matter to any Christians (church leaders or not)?
Yes, you basically sums up the reason why we have so many false teachers and teachings in today's Christianity. While I do agree that Christians should never ever criticize other religions and respect non-Christians' beliefs, I do not agree that we should just let all these false 'Christian' teachers continue to blaspheme and lead many more people astray.

In an earlier post I quoted 1 Timothy 5, let's read the verses that explain how we should approach church leaders who have sinned:

2 Timothy 5:11-16 NKJV \"17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 18 For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,”[c] and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”[d] 19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses. 20 Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear.\"

The Bible is very clear that yes, we should respect and honor our leaders and pastors (elders). But the Bible is very clear that if an elder has strayed/sinned, Christians should unite and rebuke the elder in public to ensure others do not follow in the same sin.

So yes, although I said earlier that we should love Kong Hee and give him the benefit of doubt for his criminal case, but his blasphemous sermons warrant a strong rebuke from other Christians. For that, I wish that a strong action is taken againts him for having perverted God's word and misleading His people.

Of course there is no such thing as magic unless you are into the occult.

Khong Lawrence is an illusionist not unlike David Copperfield. He uses \"magic\" as a means to attract non-Christians and then preach to them.
        Angelight:
Yes, it's true that Lawrence Khong performed magic shows with his daughter.
In fact, the father-daughter team is quite well known in the magic show industry not only here but also overseas.

why the need for a Pastor of another mega church like FCBC to dabble into magic show(s) ?

which bible verse permit Pastor to resort to magic, as a means / method to evangelise ?
create illusion or whatever you call it ?
Nobody is glossing over the differences but to put out a statement like \"Buddhists may repeat life cycles and still not reach Nirvana. Christians go to heaven after death\" is not something should be mentioned lightly without the clear understanding of the teachings of other religions.

Which part is wrong or shows wrong undertanding may I ask?

To be more specific, I am merely emphasising that a Buddhist can only reach Nirwana with great effort over several life cycles whereas for Christians, there is no rebirth to speak about.

This is what the Bible says: Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. (Hebrews 9:27-28)
You have been taking every opportunity to push what you believe on the forum. As I have mentioned before, there are other explanation from the perspective of other religion. For example, it is well known that Muslims see Jesus as just another prophet. As a Buddhist, we have other perspective.

So, please stick to discussion on KH and gang. This will help avoud any ugly doctrinal sparring.

Sounds fun. Can I get a hotdog and popcorn combo with a large Coke, in the church premise?

Actually this article suggests that some pastors may have written to KH to criticise Sun Ho.

Might have started church & outreach with love for God initially.
But perhaps somewhere down the line got derailed .... Seek the spirit of discernment as read his reply, zoom in on those underlined words. Is it the spirit of God telling him to reach out through secular music ?

I am thinking there should be different bodies to governance each religious leaders, be it of Christians or Buddhist or Taoist or Muslim ... You know, just like lawyers, doxyors snd accountants ... There should be a kind of license issue to the leaders and the bodies have the rights to remove their status if committed wrongdoings ad per individual religion rules and beliefs. Just my thought lah ...

I don't believe in the ideas of governing bodies. Can't the governing bodies be corrupted also? Can't the so called bad guys infiltrate the governing bodies and take it over?

I say, raising the quality of the people is fundamental.

Well said. No wonder you can become Grandmaster.. 🙂

People must understand for themselves what is true and what is false.

As far as religion is concerned, it works this way for me: If someone tells me that 1+1=2, I can try to believe him. On my own, I will try the equation out and see if it works. In order to be absolutely convinced, the equation must work for me when I am here, in Malaysia, in USA or anywhere in the world. It also have to work all the time, at night, in the morning, in good times or bad. There is no use telling me that those times when it does not work is because someone or something is testing my patient or the stenght of my faith, I will not buy that because such subject in life is not for play. And even if I choose to give it the benefit of doubt, during the time when it did not work, I will set a timeline for it to work.

At the beginning when I start believing in it, obviously my understanding of the whole thing will not be as comprehensive as other veterans, as such, when I pray for example, I may not pray with that total understanding in mind. One of the creteria to me is that, even without good understanding, as long as I use 1+1, it still have to give me the answer 2! Otherwise, I will have doubt still! Yes I am practical! lol.. It has to work like as if I am a baby and I am being fed with milk. As a baby, I won't understand what milk is, what protein and minerals there are in the milk, but as long as I just drink it, it will and must help me to grow and get stronger. So the new faith that I will try will have to give me that kind of scenario as well.

On top of that, once I have tried it out, it is important that I also take note of what others around me feel about me. Since I started practicing the new faith, have I become a better person or worse? Let's say you started believing and practice this faith \"X\", over time, if people all around you are getting upset with you and tells you that you have changed to a worse person or you are beginning to have more negative relationships with your family, loved ones or colleagues, then it may be time for you to take stock of what you are doing. All major religion teaches compassion and love for others and should bring more harmony and happiness to one's life. If that is not happening to you, you may be on the wrong track entirely.

The faith you choose can change you and I believe that the right faith will make a person become stronger, more compassionate, wiser and more positive; such a person will be loved and welcomed by others and they will be a joy to have around at all times. Your spouse especially, should be a witness to that, he/she should be your testimonial that you have become a much better person, a happier person, a more confident person and so on.

If any of the above is not happening, it will be all crap to me.

                SH

                  Regarding China WineQuote:
“But any intelligent, objective viewer would know that the whole drama is not about sex; if anything, it portrays the reality of a fallen secular world” Unquote

Yeah…..who is he to judge?? Is he playing God?? With his kind of preaching/doctrine, he is only going to bring the whole world down, secular or not!

Christian popular arts are unrealistic, sanitized versions of the real world:
As early as 1916, Hollywood had already discovered that 60 percent of theater owners wanted pictures that portray the real world—even if they contained themes on violence, sex and greed. This is because moviegoers want films that honestly and artistically address the issues of life.

When have Hollywood films really portrayed the real world? There may be some but very rare. Their main purpose is to make money. I guess this runs parallel to his “Prosperity” preaching?

“pop culture represents a powerful means of communicating to us what the real world is like, and how to live in it”

And I think he forgot to add…….how to milk people’s of their money by mixing it with religion.

“The “China Wine” music video was never meant for a church event. Neither was it ever intended to be an evangelism tool or a gospel video”

Isn’t it the main purpose of the Crossover Project?....as they said, to reach out to the secular world and the unchurched”???

                  KH’s parting shot:
“So to the religious and conservatives who have used nasty, derogatory and expletive terms to describe Sun, my parting shot are the words of Jesus Christ from Matthew 21:31, “I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.”

The BIG question is: Who is he aiming the parting shot at? Is he any different from the tax collectors and prostitutes that he had quoted??
