By guess & checkLim had less than 30 marbles. She gave some marbles to her children. If she gave each child 6 marbles, she would have 5 extra marbles. If she gave each child 8 marbles, she would need 1 more marble. How many marbles did she have?
Pl explain for me
Lim has < 30 marbles
Marble @ child No. of child total marbles < 30 marbles
6 4 4x6+5 = 29 yes
8 4 4x8 -1 = 31 No
6 3 3x6+5 = 23 yes
8 3 3x8 -1 = 23 yes
So she has 23 marbles. -
:thankyou: J and J

A square is a special rectangle with 4 equal sides.
A more generic term for 2 sets of parallel sides shape is called parallelogram.
A more generic term for all 4-sided shapes is quadrilateral. -

A square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square, simply because a square is a subset of a rectangle and can fit into a rectangle while vice versa is not true. -

Wendy and Ling had some ribbon. Wendy's ribbon was 8.68 m long at first. After she cut off 1.24m and gave this to Ling, Wendy had 4 times the total length of ribbon that Ling had. What was the original length of ribbon Ling had?
Pl explain me detail.....
-
First, you subtract 1.24m from 8.68m which is 7.44m to find the length of Wendy’s ribbon in the end.
As they said that the length of Wendy’s ribbon was 4 times the total length of ribbon Ling had, you divide 7.44m by 4 which is 1.86m to find the length of Ling’s ribbon in the end.
Finally, you subtract 1.24m from 1.86m which is 0.62 ( Length of Ling’s ribbon in the end - Length of ribbon given by Wendy.) Ans:0.62m or 62cm -
