        A square is a special rectangle with 4 equal sides.

        A more generic term for 2 sets of parallel sides shape is called parallelogram.

        A more generic term for all 4-sided shapes is quadrilateral.

          A square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square, simply because a square is a subset of a rectangle and can fit into a rectangle while vice versa is not true.

              Wendy and Ling had some ribbon. Wendy's ribbon was 8.68 m long at first. After she cut off 1.24m and gave this to Ling, Wendy had 4 times the total length of ribbon that Ling had. What was the original length of ribbon Ling had?

              Pl explain me detail..... 😢

                First, you subtract 1.24m from 8.68m which is 7.44m to find the length of Wendy’s ribbon in the end.

                As they said that the length of Wendy’s ribbon was 4 times the total length of ribbon Ling had, you divide 7.44m by 4 which is 1.86m to find the length of Ling’s ribbon in the end.
                Finally, you subtract 1.24m from 1.86m which is 0.62 ( Length of Ling’s ribbon in the end - Length of ribbon given by Wendy.) Ans:0.62m or 62cm

                    Edwin weighs 48kg680g. He is 0.8 as heavy as susan. Find their total weight in kg.

                    I do not quite understand the 2nd sentence.

                      Before, Ling's ribbon -> u
                      Before, Wendy's ribbon -> 8.68

                      After, Ling's ribbon -> u+ 1.24
                      After, Wendy's ribbon -> 8.68-1.24 = 7.44

                      To equal them for \"after\", 4 x Ling = Wendy (or you can view as Ling = 1/4 Wendy)

                      4(u+1.24) -> 7.44
                      4u + 4.96 -> 7.44
                      4u -> 2.48
                      u -> 0.62
                      Original length Ling had was 0.62m

                        Hi

                        This means Edwin --- 4 units and Susan --- 5 units.

                        Best wishes
