Saving Gaia song

I like the whole performance and the song seems to be circling in my head. I sing it to entertain myself. I'm no child, but can see it through a child's eyes (or hear it in this case). If you look at it as an adult, you won't understand. The song is so pure and innocent and such soft pleas coming from the children : \"save my world\" Unless you become like a little child ....
I agree with u tutormum.
the singing and performance were of course not perfect, but it is made of sugar and spice and everything nice, namely PURITY. even the nervousness shown and crackling voice were so natural. song - so so, kids - pure and innocent.
Luvvv it ( though my 2 young teenage kids cringe, LOL )
anyway, I would take THIS

The first video is truthful & real, while the second one is pretentious & fake.. Perhaps, that is the difference between children and adults?tutormum:

I feel that adults are becoming really harsh on kids nowadays (not only parents to their own kids, but adults to children, in general).. 80+ marks not good enough, must get 90+ marks (or 95+ marks even better).. 'A' not good enough, must get 'A star'.. Neighbourhood schools not good enough, must get into ''branded'' schools.. The list of expectations goes on..
This is a simple song, sung from the kids' hearts, for a good cause.. It is not a competition, it does need to be a perfect score of 100/100.. If MediaCorp had wanted a perfect & flawless delivery of the song, they would have engaged professional singers to sing it (eg, S'pore Idol winners, adult choirs etc).. I do not think that was MediaCorp's intention in the first place..
I used to enjoy listening to the song (& watching the video), humming along merrily whenever i hear it on TV or in the car.. But now, i listen to the song with a heavy heart, as i remember every single negative comment posted here, especially those about the kids..
Thankfully, there are many parents who feel the same way as i feel.. A big hug to all you.. :grphug: -

:snuggles: aiyoh... Don't bother to remember the negative comments, just remember there are like minded people whenever you listen to it

Kids are amazing people. As a hands on mum, I try to be involved in my child's growing years. Before I become a parent, I never knew I could have learnt so much from him and how humbling the experience can be. Perhaps adults should look beyond the cuteness and really try to get to know these little people who has so much to offer despite their age.
As for criticism, just a gentle reminder - when you point a finger at something/someone, another three are pointing at opposite direction (towards you). -
I like this one so much better..

The latest one with the kids.. crappy.. IMO.. of course, that's my opinion, and you're free to disagree..
Don't like the sound.. don't like the video..
If they film the kids out in the greenery, enjoying nature.., pick up litters along the coast doing meaningful things.. maybe not so bad.. to film them singing.. very boring..
And they should get a proper singer to sing..
ps: There are kids in the video I posted too.. so cute...... this, is well done (last year's video).. IMO.. -
I love the Saving Gaia song! They are kids and can’t really have sky high expectation.
At least the children sing MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the soldiers for the National Day.
When i saw the soldiers’ song on the national news broadcast, i literally started laughing. No offence to my fellow soldiers. It’s just disappointed to see how unprepared they are on a national news. Really disappointed. I believe they can do better than that.
So for the Saving Gaia song…BRAVO kids! Expressionless? No way! I believe those are moments that showed how serious the kids are in concentrating to get the music right for the video. Come on…people loosen up abit for the children. -

Refering to the above video, I find the singing too perfect, and the production too flawless (& hence commercialized).. And, immediately after i listened to the song, I forgot its melody (& lyrics) instantly..I like this one so much better..

As tutormum mentioned, this year's \"saving gaia\" song catches on us instantly (melody & lyrics), and I find it hard to get it out of my head whenever I hear it.. So i end up humming the song wherever I am (at home, in shopping malls, on mrt/bus, in the car etc), and whatever I am doing (shopping, reading, cooking, doing chores etc).. The song never fails to bring a smile to my face, always..

When i first heard the song, I was wondering why we don’t have better child singers.
Then later I reckoned that the producers purposely get ordinary kids to sing the song.
The tune is catchy, the simplicity of the song and the innocent and unpolished voices of the kids make it unique and best of all, memorable. -
I like the songs too! Even my 3++ year old son also sings the song!
-
Yah... My 3.5 years old dd took to the song positively...and love it...
She whispered, \"save my world.....save my world....\" before she sleeps sometimes...
I like the fact the song appeals to them... Afterall, the song is about them and for them, for their future...
Thumbs up for it! :celebrate: :celebrate:
