      Hi Parents,

You can call or sms Susan at 91142961 from Swim Classes Singapore. They have swimming classes at Jurong West swimming complex and private pool as well for 5 years old and above. Fee is only $60 per month. My kids learning there also with Torpedos Swim School.
Yes, I sms Susan. Very understanding and helpful lady. Dh was asking if we already knew each as it was like old friends having conversation.

I just sms her yesterday after seeing some posting here. She has gotten a coach for my kids. Starting next week. Will feedback. Hopefully we got a good one.

You’ll be surprised at the importance of water play. Mine didnt take lessons from 4-7 years old when others are. Basically, just got him to play with water and conquer his fear of water.

At 7 years old, i just put him with a coach, he learnt how to swim by the 4th lesson. The coach feedback is because he is not afraid of water, so learning is much easier.

My 2 older kids started taking on lessons when they were 5 and 6 years old from a old pal who is a coach. They finally learnt how to swim after a couple of months. Actually… I thought that was slow. Also, my dd1 would sometimes cry during lessons when her coach asked her to go to the deep end so lots of tension.

They learnt for about a year. We stopped when we moved. Now at 10 and 11, they can float, do breaststroke and freestyle but I always feel that their stroke is not good and they lack the stamina to do proper laps. I called the contact provided here and they are starting their lessons this friday with my P1 who totally does not know how to swim. Hopefully we get someone good and effective.

Both my kids started learning at about 4+yrs old. Now DS who is 7yrs old can do 8-10 laps freestyle and breast stroke. Now learning backstroke. DD who is 9yrs old is doing butterfly now. Kids will be kids, do laps only, cannot, gotta be very firm with them and push them, but play games, can tread water and sprint swim to retrieve stuff continously, dive, etc, we don’t hear them complaining tired.

They missed a couple of scheduled tests but their coach said not to worry, can take the tests as & when the dates are out.

Not sure if you still need swimwear, but arena is having atrium sale at plaza sing. $19 or $29 for one piece swimsuit. Designs are quite nice, but sizes are limited.

My kids had their 1st lesson with the coach last friday. I was really happy as the coach turns out to be very good with kids and patient. Was telling dh that we are really lucky to get the coach and I can see progress after 1 lesson. I had 2 kids who already had the basic as they learnt when they were 5-6 years old and stopped. But I felt that their stroke is uncoordinated and they do not have the stamina to swim the lap. While the other is beginner, P1 and still with her floaties...

At the end of lesson, the 2 older ones can swim better (in a coordinated way). While the beginner can float, try the stuff that coach teaches her and enjoy her lessons. I sort of expected her to require a few more lessons to do so as I recalled I wasn't able to float on 1st lesson.

                  Hi Damnsel,

On behalf of Happy Fish Swim School, I would like to apologise for the postponement of your baby aquatic lessons.

It was definitely not our intention to delay the class and we are very sorry to have caused inconvenience to both you and your child.

In order to provide an immediate update with regards to any changes to the lesson schedule, such as bad weather and postponement, we put our instructor in charge of it. Our admin team is responsible for assisting them to make arrangements for the first lesson time and location. We apologise that your instructor did not provide you with an early notification to postpone the class, causing inconvenience to your schedule. We will look into this matter and not to let it happen again.

We hope you can accept our apology and do let us know if there is anything we can do to make it up to you. Thank you.

This message is not for your kids but for you.

I am sure many of you are water-safe and can even manage a couple of laps in the swimming pool.

                    Why not go further ?

Why not aim to be able to do 10 laps at a go? You do not have to race against time or against anyone. Just read up, do it a bit more regularly and try to reach a level or proficiency that you have not reached.

And I don’t mean swimming breaststroke (aka frog style). Do the front crawl (freestyle).

Get this book "Total Immersion" from the library or a book store. It is very well written and is paticularly suitable for swimmers who are no longer spring chickens (like me).

                      Hi there,

                      Need advice on that.

The sports shops I visited sell swimming goggles with power for adults only, none for children. I’m looking for one for my 10-year-old kid, ~300 degrees.

                      Thanks in advance,
                      Xiaohu.
