All About Violin Classes and Teachers

leongstella:
I was informed in another thread that the link to the Business Times article is broken, so here it is: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9PnZcq_CrMYRXB4QWxkWEVRamVja0dFNmgxUlpQUQHello everyone, I thought I would like to add a note here for everyone.
I know of this piano/cello/violin teacher around Tanjong Katong area. He graduated from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, specializing in violin performance. From what I understand, it is the leading conservatoire in UK.
He has about 17 years of teaching experience. Very flexible and dynamic.
His ability is also quite amazing; has helped highly functioning autistic child to learn more about music (patient man), to guiding students to be exam-ready (for their Music Elective Program/O Lvls/A levels/SOTA/etc)
Teaching style is unconventional - combines about an hour of lesson with music documentaries, operas & composer movies. This is so that the child can develop his own interest (hopefully, also passion) for music.
I have attached a link to a news article about him, featured in the Business Times here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9PnZcq ... dit?pli=1#
PM me if you wish to have his contact!

Hi everyone, as much as I would like to avoid a re-posting of information here, it has come to my attention from another forum thread (Choosing the right piano teacher, by dreamaurora) that I need to further expand on some information & also to rectify certain bits.
Kindly bear with me. Thank you.
Hello everyone, this is a re-post to clarify any confusion earlier on.
I know of this piano/cello/violin teacher around Tanjong Katong area. He graduated from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, specializing in violin performance. From what I understand, it is one of the few leading conservatoire in UK (as very kindly pointed out by a fellow forum participant jce).
He has about 17 years of teaching experience. Very flexible and dynamic.
His ability is also quite amazing in my humble opinion; has helped highly functioning autistic child to learn more about music (patient man), to guiding students to be exam-ready (for their Music Elective Program/O Lvls/A levels/SOTA/etc)
Teaching style is unconventional - combines about an hour of lesson, with segments of music documentaries, operas & composer movies (NOT INCLUDED IN LESSON TIME - IT IS ON TOP OF LESSON TIME). This is so that the child can develop his own interest (hopefully, also passion) for music.
e.g. 1 hour of actual teaching + 20 minutes of movie = whole lesson
I have attached a link to a news article about him, featured in the Business Times here: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9PnZcq_CrMYRXB4QWxkWEVRamVja0dFNmgxUlpQUQ
PM me if you wish to have his contact!
I would also be more than happy to elaborate on some aspects of his teaching (from my own knowledge). Do shoot me any questions and I'd definitely do my best in answering them.
If you wish to know more & I cannot comprehensively answer them, I do suggest that you give him a call, which is of course non-obligatory, to learn more.
Cheers! -
Hi everyone, I’m a newbie. I registered specifically to ask this:
Can anyone recommend a female violin teacher who’s willing to teach my daughter at home.
Thanks in advance for your help. -

Hi,
Anyone tried Ossia Music School in Tampines Branch before? I intend to send my girl there to learn violin, I’m staying in tampines, ideally if the teacher can teach at my place. -

I saw at Esplanade Store that their 1/64 is S$99. From experience, i don't like their cheap bows though - quite low quality compared to Synwin's S$20 bows.[/quote]In case anyone reads this post. I did go in and ask them sometime back - that Gramercy's 1/64 is only a Toy. Not for a child to learn on. haha.watmekiasu:

then it is more justifiable for me to go for an independent seller.
any advice? which shop to go?
thanks...
Apart fm Synwin that I'd mentioned in another post, Gramercy is another reputable shop. Heard their lutheir is among the best in Spore. -
I have a kid size 1/8 violin to let go at $70, interested parties please pm me.

Hi all,
I’ve been reading this forum on the side but this is my first time registering and posting here. I would like to seek recommendation for a violin teacher for my niece and eventually my daughter when she is older.
The teacher need not necessarily possess master degree or what, but must definitely be able to teach (some people just can’t teach). TBH, my niece used to have lessons with one of a forum poster here whom is a violin teacher but had a very bad experience. I won’t name the teacher but do PM me if you have second thoughts about getting a violin teacher who has advertised themself here. So, if anyone have a good teacher to recommend in the Seng Kang or Hougang area do let me know!
TIA! -
