Go for RV as it is nearer and you have higher chance because base on current seats bal at scgs, those > 2km may have risk to get rejected. Personally I think most people choose SCGS or ACS mainly due to prestige and affiliation. Schools that produce top PSLE scores in Singapore are mainly from NYPS, RGPS and most SAP neighborhood schools. Eg. If u go read the notice board at TLL(the learning lab) you cannot find SCGS members in the top psle scorer list.No typo. Am referring to River Valley PS as I can choose schs fr GRC that I serve in and also GRC where I reside.
I don't think I stand a chance at RGPS as it requires balloting outside of 1 km under ph 2B historically....
RV is better than ST Margaret in terms of academic performance so you can consider that as last option. -
pinetart:
Please do not just look at top score. While SCGS has not produced a top scorer above 275 in recent years (her top scorers were still above 270) her results in terms of average T score and % of quality passes have been very good and were way better than many neighbourhood SAP schools. For example, SCGS's average T-score of 230+ vs a very popular school at jurong west (the one that produced top scorer) average T-score of 210+.

Why don't you join the alumni? You are still in time to join to qualify for P2A1. P2A1 is Almost guaranteed. This year P2A1 30 applicants, P2A2 as of now is 70.lilfeets:
Which phase are you registering at?
i will be applying in 2014... under phase 2A2 for RSS... so crossing my fingers and toes that ballot at phase 2A2 will not happen when time to come.... as recently alot of private condos are built around the sch....
:yikes:
You also need to take into consideration that RSS may cut intake to go in line with MOE's direction to go single session in 2016.
If you are really keen to join the alumni, pm me, I'll give you the contact. -

I was told that it has happened to just 1 school once some years back. That's the only time ever.Has anyone got any idea if any schools have ever held balloting for Phase 2A2? I just registered today and learnt that there're only 25 vacancies left. I'm afraid if there are more than 25 applicants tomorrow, there'll be balloting held, and my chance will be extremely slim since i stay beyond 2km.
The school adminstrator told me it has never held balloting in the entire history of the school for this phase, but i'm still nervous! -
Does anyone know if there is a possibility that in Phase 2A2, all seats are taken with no more left for the rest of phases?
-
don’t think MOE allow that.
if it ever happen, MOE will intervene & do something to this unique situation. I believer MOE also closely monitoring situation now, since they just implement policy.
i feel that the school should try to open up another class. -

Yup agreed. It's about demand and supply, if supply are taken up, then register at other schools. There are enough schools in Singapore to cater to SC, PR and Foreign talent kids.

I looked at the moe website for the vacancies left for rgps and there are still 89. It looks like a comfortable figure to me and you are at 2A2.Hi,
I have registered my daughter into Pei Chun Public and I am staying at Toa Payoh. I am an old gal of RGPS and can register her into RGPS under Phase 2A(2).
Can anyone advise if I stand a chance in RGPS? I am in a dilemma as I need to withdraw from Pei Chun in rorder to register for RGPS.
I don't understand why this year I feel from this thread that P2A2 is so tense. This level of tension is usually at P2B.
If you are apprehensive, can call the school in the afternoon to chk the figure mid-way registration for today.
