My 2nd one is in P2 but I am looking at vacancies available out of curiousity. Thought Phase 2A2 is still safe :scratchhead: and the stress comes in at 2B/C.

Janet, today is day 2 of phase 2a2 and Rulang has 25 vacancies left! I really know how this is like as I PVed at Rulang but failed to get in last year. This year is worse than last year.

Am I read the MOE's statistics correctly as I run down the listing of vacancies for all the schools by phases?
It seems like for those neighbourhood schools, even those in high demand, there are NO alumni association and hence no registration in 2A1. But there is a very HIGH registration under Phase 1 siblings phase. Also there are schools whereby under 2a1 and 2a2 ie. alumni phase, combine with siblings phase, already almost taken up the vacancies.

Wah, so many alumni, is it possible?

Perhaps those high demand neighbourhood schools are mostly surrounded by flats densely and those ex-students continued to stay on around that area.

I think this year a lot more stress under P2B. The gate open too wide for this phase. PV, affiliates and associations under this phase. Balloting required for <1 km. Put in so much hard work also no longer guaranteed.....

I was angry why din my parents send me to popular sch when I was young since there wasn't much competition 30 to 40 years ago. If not, my children will be admitted straight away through phase 2A, my grandchildren will have no worries to go in and also my great grand children and great great grand...there will be no stress for the next generation.

Wah, are you serious pchong? I feel a bit \"wu gu\" for your parents. Although I am not sure how educated they were during their time but for my mother who is illiterate, she just send me to the nearest neighbourhood school whereas my neighbours kids mostly goes to convent and boys schools.

Whereas my hubby's father sent my hubby and sister-in-law into those high demand schools. Now I thank him for his great foresight my kids got priority into good school. On the other hand, my hands are tight I cannot choose a co-ed school for my boy as I preferred but got to go to this boys school.

I don't want to sound preachy but do look forward, not backwards! šŸ˜„

I lived in Bukit Timah when I was young and at that time nyps, rgs, pei hwa were already there. I questioned my parents why wasn't I being sent to those sch cos I now have the intention to register my children there but can't. My mum told me to get into those sch at that time one has to pay 'kopi money'....I'm not sure abt this.

Hi everyone, need some advice here: I'm deciding between 2 schools for P2c.

School A - a neighbourhood school with mediocre PSLE results, within 1km, convenient pick-up point for school bus, friendly school environment and teaching staff. However, it is located next to a secondary school with rowdy students.

School B - a popular school which has consistently done well academically, located with 1-2km, and conducive learning environment. However, it is not so accessible as it's tucked away in a private estate.

My dd has voiced her preference for School A over B as she has visited A a few times. She has not visited B. However, dh and I have some concerns over the influence that the neighbouring secondary school students may have over the Sch A students, since they share certain parts of the school compound. Would you, in this case, let dd decide the school that she is comfortable with, or choose one for her that is more conducive for her learning?

Indeed, its worse than last year.... Maybe they might scrapped off the PV scheme in a couple of years.
( I spoke to Mr Goh at a PSG gathering and that's what he mentioned)...

Can you imagine how our kids will think 30-40 years later if we fail to get them into a good primary school now? This is why it is so competitive at P1 registration now.

Yes, the current state of P1 registration is a result of our own doing...

Do you know how many PVs Rulang has this year? I think that Mr Goh is the HOD for Science who is in charge of phase 2B PVs.

Not only the PVs are getting nervous now, even those who have applied for Rulang under phase 2a2 are feeling the heat now. It all depends on how many apply for Rulang today.

                  Hi

Does anyone know what was the historical statistic of applications under Phase 2B & Phase 2C for Henry Park and Pei Hwa for Y2011 and Y2010?

I don't know why Henry Park is taken up like hot cakes this year... as of now, only left with 18 slots for Phase 2B. I am less than 1km, and feeling very nervous already.

I see that in Y2011 for HPPS, 29 pple managed to get in under Phase 2B, but how many pple actually applied... was there balloting?
Also for Pei Hwa, 44 managed to get in under Phase 2B, again i am curious how many pple applied?

                  Thanks! :?:

Errrrr, I heard from my dh's aunt, her parents, who were my dh grandparents, queued at ACS, 3 days and 3 nights for a spot for my dh's cousin during P1 registration. They managed a get a spot for him. So it's not true to say last time long long ago P1 registration was not competitive hor  šŸ˜‰

40 years ago, my FIL got a letter from the church to register my hubby at ACS. Same for my friend's mother, queued overnight to register her for rgps. Ksp of their era... :faint: :faint: :faint:

If I'm not wrong, 20 PVs for this 2013 in-take. ( yes, Mr Goh is in charge of PVs )
Yes, i think those phase 2A2 are feeling the heat, most of my colleagues are on leave to go apply to their old school for the kids.

I managed to register my daughter under Phase 2A2...didn't want to pay the fee to join alumni when I know I'm not active member.

Pei Hwa, Nanyang Pri and RGPS have been around for long time. But not many parents will think of registering kids in popular schools back then...again, it all boils down to convenience. Mum wanted to register me in Marymount but there were many restrictions like religion etc etc. So in the end, she put me in same school as cousins but wait list for girls' school.

My daughter is now studying in my former school. That pride and sense of belonging when I walked with my daughter in school compound telling her who my former principal was, is just wonderful...looking at the uniforms from my time to now...the improvements done. :imcool:
