Teacher who made this type of comment "Shame on you" ought to be sacked. They are strong words used on young kids. Report her to the Principal and to MOE !

some kids may come from poor background. How can she make this type of comment ? means she look down on poor kids who can’t raise funds. some teachers are atas. what kind of educator is she ?

...Do you know what the form teacher said to the 2 girls???

        It was \"Shame on you!!!\"
        ...
what is happening in our classrooms???
This sounds bad! I would write to the teacher and request her to explain her side of the matter. And if I didn't get a plausible explanation, I would contact the principal.

That is definitely setting a very bad example by saying this type of word. I think this donation card thing is \"getting a bit out of hand\" though it is over.

That teacher ought to be penalized and the upper management i.e VP shld tell their teachers how to handle this donation matter properly (all donations shld come out of a willing heart and not being compelled!).

If students \"are supposed\" to donate a certain amount, then pls dun give us a card with different amounts that we can choose to donate. Might as well write a circular to state \"the compulsory amt!\".

What about all the staff in the school? Are they supposed to do the same as their students i.e contribute their effort in the fund raising (Mount Kellock event today) and DONATE money oso?

                  Dear Ivy,

the school is in a 'graying' mature estate, most of the pupils come in as old girls as the mother, cousins once studied there
Also, there is a RMPS nearby and RMPS is a mixed school and they are quite popular among parents for their IT/Multimedia niche.

the school is quite strong in the Mathematics teaching in that it has a very structured way of teaching. they have their own way of teaching maths. I m lucky to have Ms Adela Chua ( an old girl) as form tr for my DD. Ms Adela Chua is a young, very caring teacher.

as i stay within walking distance from the school, i didn't use the school bus transport.

but rest assured that upon successful registration, the bus transport op info will be given.

                  cheers

                    Dear all,
had a call from VP this morning. i was busy whole day until now.

she clarified with the Tr if she really commented 'Shame on you' when she collected that donation card.

the tr did use that phase but she wasn't referring to the amount of money collected. the card was not submitted on time and she only found out that 1 card was missing and she had to go search high and low for it and when she finally found out that it was still with the pupil. she was actually referring to the late submission.

the VP clarified that in that class, there were 7 other pupils who also returned with donations of $10. the VP also reasoned that the TR didn't use that phrase on the other 6 girls and why would she comment on the 7th girl.

i believe this incidence arises due to misunderstanding.
and i am happy with the VP's clarification that the comment was not on the amount of donation raised but on the late submission.

                    Dear titank,
whether the gal would e marked by the tr, this is everybody's guess.
frankly, for myself, if i were the tr, i would definitely 'ignore / not touch' that gal for as far as possible.
unless the tr is really benevolent, i believe she would share the same sentiment as me.

the VP did say something that the school is not aided by MOE and all upgradings/extensions will be funded fully by the donations raised.

PS: the school fee is $11 per month as compared with RMPS or other Govt-aided school, $5.5 a month.

                      dear all,

hope my posting of the incidence does not tarnish the school’s reputation.

i am overall satisfied with the dedication of the Trs, P, VPs, etc.

                      regards
