2012 P1 Registration Exercise for 2013 In-Take
-
Wasn’t really looking at P1 registration until today when I saw the ‘leftovers’ filtering down to 2b n 2c - I just tot that the numbers left for quite a few popular schools are quite ‘eye-popping’!!
-
SAHM_TAN:
I thk for 2c, Radin Mas u have to be within 1km n RV is within 2km.cchs2:
Bukit Timah Primary, River Valley, Radin Mas Primary - anyone has any view of these schools & Phase 2C supplementary any chance?
Based on historical trend, only Bukit Timah Primary School has vacancies for phase 2C supp. -
phtthp:
refer past 2011 PSLE average / mean score:-
Please do not just look at top score. While SCGS has not produced a top scorer above 275 in recent years (her top scorers were still above 270) her results in terms of average T score and % of quality passes have been very good and were way better than many neighbourhood SAP schools. For example, SCGS's average T-score of 230+ vs a very popular school at jurong west (the one that produced top scorer) average T-score of 210+.alng:

Go for RV as it is nearer and you have higher chance because base on current seats bal at scgs, those > 2km may have risk to get rejected. Personally I think most people choose SCGS or ACS mainly due to prestige and affiliation. Schools that produce top PSLE scores in Singapore are mainly from NYPS, RGPS and most SAP neighborhood schools. Eg. If u go read the notice board at TLL(the learning lab) you cannot find SCGS members in the top psle scorer list.
RV is better than ST Margaret in terms of academic performance so you can consider that as last option.
SCGS mean of 233.35 & % Quality passes beat Rulang & River Valley. The academic results showed that SCGS is stronger than these 2 schools.
let's compare by subject, detailed breakdown (refer % Quality passes):-
English: SCGS (91.2 %) vs Rulang (64.2 %)
Chinese: SCGS (89.3 %) vs Rulang (89.8 %)
Science: SCGS (82 %) vs Rulang (64.5 %)
Maths: SCGS (68.6 %) vs Rulang (61.6 %)

SCGS beat River Valley flat, in all 4 subjects.
let's compare by subject, detailed breakdown (% Quality passes):-
English: SCGS (91.2 %) vs RV (56.2 %): by a huge difference
Chinese: SCGS (89.3 %) vs RV (81.4 %)
Science: SCGS (82 %) vs RV (52.1 %): also huge difference

St Margaret need to improve academically, especially on her Maths.[/quote]
I think it boils down to individual child. Someone I knew failed his PSLE badly last year becos of math. His PSLE mark is below 150 despite in RVPS. I am not sure if anyone did the same in St Marg last yr. -

With vacancies in HOT schools taken by SC, Bukit Timah Pri may become the next hot for those in Phase 2C.
Bukit Timah primary will become HOT spot under Phase 2C, especially for PR kids. -

Will the school tell us the no. of PR reg?
For the past year, is the no. of PR a lot? -
Scary:

Without the new policy, parents who cannot register in the other schools in the area will still go Bukit Timah primary school right? It's just that with the new policy, a specific citizenship type of parents will register there.
Whatever the argument, just need to monitor the situation and contact the school to find out the numbers, if the school is your back-up school. Meaning, even if not considering the back-up school for phase 2B or phase 2C must still monitor and call the school so that always have most current infor to make the decision. -
i am registering my son on 19.7.2012.
I do not have the father's identity card as we are divorced 2 years ago. Do I really need his identity card or just my court orders???
Emailed the school, the school coordinator asked me to go General Office. Went to the General Office, they are not sure :stompfeet: A teacher came by & said the \"statutory declaration form\" (errrmm...she said \"I think\") will be given on registration day............
Can any kind souls share with me whether does the statutory declaration form needs both parties to sign
oh my tien :slapshead: emailed MOE - yet to receive their reply

I think so.

\"No. of SC registrants - xxx\"
\"No. of PR registrants - xxx\" -
