All About Life Without Maids

Hey thanks for the information! But dunno Fairprice promo still on or notβ¦..
Hi Imami and BeContented,BeContented:
Laundry sanitizer - any brand can recommend? Currently I just add some dettol to the detergent.
Also for my floor may, every few days I'll collecy the dirty & dump one side, 2nd time then I'll wash all together (~6-10pcs). Oh yah, better remember to shake all the dirt off
There are 2 brands for laundry sanitizer, DETTOL and WALCH.
Dettol is very expensive. I use WALCH and like it very much. I add it to every wash cycle for cloths to kill germs, also use it to sanitize kitchen cloth every night. Anything smelly also can sanitized. It cost about $16 for 2litrs, I think. Big bottle. Look out for offer and stock up. Last week, Fairprice has buy 1 get 1 free, fantastic deal.
Really ar, you sanitise the kitchen cloth every night? Wahβ¦ maybe I should sanitise my kitchen cloth tooβ¦. -
I donβt wash my floor mats or floor cloths via the washing machine. Got the eeks factor. I usually change them 2-3 days or else I wonβt even want to touch them. I will dump them in a pail of soapy water and dettol in the morning before work and when back home, I will scrub them using those brushes can get from value store and hang them out to dry overnight. I saw this commercial that shows how dirty our washing machine can be. I ordered this washing machine cleaner powder frm another forum now waiting for It to arrive.
I need help in cleaning the glass shower screen- there is always water stain on it no matter how i clean! How to cope? -
It's hard to teach maids.
Like floor cloth cannot mix with kitchen cloth. When my kids were babies, I had to be very specific. Their face towel is meant to clean the face, cannot clean buttock. :frustrated:
But in maids' own country, they don't care much about personal hygiene...which is why many experience culture shock here.
I use Kao Wide Bleach to wash my laundry everyday...for killing germs since kids and hubby perspire. -
Imami:
I donno why but I am kinda of upset when I saw the quote. Perhaps because I make tremendous effort to keep the home clean and tidy... But I do know osim doesn't mean anything else except to encourage us to spend more time with our children.osim:
\"A Clean And Neat House Is A Sign Of A Wasted Life\"
Just a quote I saw at a gift shop
Make time to enjoy your family. The kids will have less time for you as the years go by so Carpe Diem! When they become adults and hardly home, then do more cleaning if you want.
For me, I enjoy cooking for my family. I want them to cultivate healthy food choices and habits. I hope they will always want to come home for Mom's cooking later in their life
I don't quite agree with this quote. I believe a clean home is essential for children to grow up in. Tidiness will teach the children about being orderly. I get great satisfaction whenever
- my child tells someone,\" my mummy cleans the floor, scrub my clothes/shoes, do the housework.
- friends/teachers commented my child's white clothes/uniform/shoes are very clean (I scrub them when necessary).
- friends and parent in laws compliment my clean and tidy home, in particular, when mil compared mine to her daughter's home
So I do see value in maintaining a home that is always ready for guests. But, as I am a ftwm and I value my time with my family, I don't break my back over fingerprints on my wall mirror or dust on the exterior window panes.
I agree with you. I believe in staying in a clean and tidy home. DH, DD & myself have sensitive noses. Therefore, our home cannot be too dusty to live in. Otherwise, all of us will be sneezing all day long. -
Whether you use the machine to wash floor cloth or not, it will be dirty with detergent accumulation, mould, etc.
The point is, it is not the floor cloth that cause these dirt. It is just scum from frequent use. What is important, is to maintain the cleanliness of the machine by cycling it with vinegar or baking soda once a month with hot water and also clean the soap box that scums easily.
If you don't clean your machine well, then the dirt accumulation inside from washing your clothes is worse than that of the floor cloth :rotflmao: -

osim, can you pm me the link to that YouTube video? I am interested in DIY my Daikin aircon too. My aircon is about 12-13 years old too, and the last they were cleaned was.... I don't even remember. :slapshead:Dasalo, fightingmom
I pm you a YouTube link to watch how easy it is done so you can decide better whether you want to try.
You aircon should be easier to do. Mine is 16 years ago model. Still need some unscrewing
but still do-able lah. They say it takes 15 mins but I take 1/2 hour to be thorough.
TIA! -

It's an old brand really. I've bought many times b1f1 over the years. It's value for money and 1 bottle can last many washes
