      Hi tcdl,

Do you know of any good 1-1 teacher? My child has always been in a group tuition.
      Hi Coolit,

I'm sorry I do not have any knowledge of a good 1-1 tution teacher. Maybe you can post a topic of getting a good tutor, likely there'll be helpful parents passing you great information.

Apology for not been able to help.

      Regards

        Hi tcdl,

Thanks so much for your advice but I have had a 1-1 tutor but there is no improvement and he finds it very boring as he is alone. I thought maybe the gp dynamics might help. Am really frantic as his Chinese marks will pull everything down.
        Hi Kmumz,

In that case, you can try group enrichment programmes / tution class. However, I'm not sure if Berries can help as it seems, from the past posts, Berries are better for lower primary kids.

I understand from ChiefKiasu that Molin at Roxy Square is pretty good as majority of their students are from the surrounding good schools. Refer back o all the previous posts for more information.

One previous post from ChiefKiasu as below, you may consider as reference :-

        Hi,
I have tried reading all the postings here but still struggling to know what is good. Noticed that most of the comments seem to be for kindergarten or lower primary level. Unfortunately, I am looking for a centre that can help my P4 boy with his Chinese. What I hear is that some centres could be good for lower primary but not upper primary. Does anyone have any experiences to share?

        TIA!

If you are going for upper Primary or Secondary, Jiang Education and Molin are highly recommended. There are parents who also believe that Berries and Tien Hsia supports upper primary well too.

By the way, just curious .... do you think your current tutor is suitable for your boy ? Have you tried changing one ? Maybe you can look around. Too bad that I don't have anyone to recommend as my kids are still their N1 and lower primary level.

        Regards

            Hi,

Personally I also find that the teachers from Eduplus (Visited UE at River Valley) are also warm & friendly. I'm sourcing on Primary 1 education & had also visted like Yuquan, Xueni, Han Lang, Jiang Education, Molin & Han Lang.

            Hi parents,

Seem to be reading many posts on lower Primary enrichment, since I spent the last weekend sourcing out P4 Chinese enrichment for compo and compre, thought I could share my thoughts. This is only my personal opinion based on the short visit to each, so feel free to indicate otherwise if you have a different experience.

Story Island (Eduplus) 专项班 (not the story class)
            - about $27 / 28 per lesson including GST; 16 lessons per term
            - 1.5 hours
            - includes a presentation to audience every alternate week - good to build up confidence in child's public speaking
            - although they do give ideas about how to write a compo, does not seem to be very structured though. Compo every alternate week.
            - includes compre, oral

Eduplus Bishan 说话作文 (not the Enrichment class)
            - $30 +GST per lesson for 16 lessons per term + $20 materials
            - 1.5 hours
            - 1st wk compo, 2nd wk mark other student's compo together with teacher, 3rd wk rewrite same topic again, 4th wk is compre and others if I remember correctly
            - had experience with them for quite a while, their teachers change from centre to centre quite often. Normally the good ones get switched to other centres pretty quickly, I don't know why. Having said that, I always find their teachers very warm and friendly to the children. Same for story island centre.

            Berries higher chinese class 精英
            - about $35 per lesson, 12 lessons per term
            - 2 hours each
            - don't seem to have purely compo lessons, but the materials look pretty structured.
            - according to lady that I spoke to, there is emphasis on compo only in term 2; term 1 is more oral, compre
            - provides students with list of vocab outside textbook and 'good phrases' for compo

Tien Hsia writing and compre class (not the enrichment class)
            - $30 per lesson, 10 lessons. no lesson during school holidays
            - 1.5 hours each
            - 1 compo every week including compre sometimes
            - provides examples of 'good phrases'

Did not try Jiang education and Molin as they are not convenient for me.

Would appreciate if any parents have any information to share about which of the centres' teachers are good. All that I indicated above are located in Bishan.

I went Jiang Education but was being put off as the class is too big. 1 teacher to 20 students.

Hi, any reason why you chose Yuquan for p1 and Molin for N2? i was contemplating whether to enrol in Yuquan or Molin p1 enrichment class for my DS1.

                        Thanks for sharing.
