Agree totally !!!
Guess the other thing is that there's no major exams...so if you did not do well in a certain exams, u can still improve your overall if u are not lagging too far behind and do well for the next.
First semester not a good gauge, cos Physics and Chem grades not computed. For the others, she's above average. Although no grade reflected, teacher told us DD needs to work harder on Physics.tiggermum:
Hi Tiggermum
Can u share how academic results yr DD perform in first semester? Is it difficult to get good results? What CAP marks they get consider good?
A lot of parents find it hard to believe when NUSH parents say it's manageable and not as scary as many think. But seriously, I think PSLE and Primary School was more stressful! One reason is that exams only take up 30% of total grade, and daily work 70%. So long as you do your homework and projects properly, you'll be fine. Plus, the tests are based on bite-size topics, so the kid doesn't need to study a whole big chunk of stuff at one go (unlike primary school science, where you are tested on p3, p4, p5 topics, even though you are currently
doing P6 topics only). -

steady la 'Shurley'! if your DD gets selected, she probably will do fine, the school knows what to look for. For attire, I think DD wore PE t-shirt with pinafore last year at the camp, maybe you want to call and check with NUSH?Hi, can check for this sat camp, as for wearing school uniform . Can wear school PE attire ?
After reading these 2 days posts, I am really stressed .But after I told my DD about what she might expect in Yr 1. Her reply : That's cool ! I love it ! I :yikes: I told myself only to worry after the selection camp

you know, girls actually do surprisingly well at NUSH, even though boys are supposed to be better at math and science. Largely because girls (generally) are better at languages and writing, so that helps to push up their CAP.
come Saturday, just send her there, and go for a nice breakfast with hubby, relax! -

For last year selection camp, the students were asked to wear PE attire and they were given a T-shirt when attendence taken. They will have to wear the T-shirts given by NUSH (actually u paid for it; remember the $50 registration fee?) when going from \"station\" to \"station\". Last year there were 3 colours. There was also a back-pack and some other accessories.Hi, can check for this sat camp, as for wearing school uniform . Can wear school PE attire ?

As a student volunteer at the past 2 DSA camps, one thing Iβve observed is that those who make it in are those that generally know how to speak the right thing at the right time and are not afraid to make errors. As many other parents before me have mentioned, there is really no use studying for such a camp.
Itβs best to advice your child to be relaxed and confident throughout the camp, as those are probably the traits that NUSH are looking for in their potential students.
all the best! -
Hi ,
For DSA camp -
I think most of the parents have seen this blog, if you havent then check it out.

Just for info, not to prepare. Frankly there is nothing to prepare.
The children will have a wonderful time - the activities a welcome break from the tense PSLE Prep work.
Just tell them to be themselves and not to try too hard.
And then you sit back and relax.
All the best to your DCs. -
