The alumni are the very reason why a school is popular now. If not for the alumni who studied hard while they were in that school and got good results, the school would not be popular in the first place, and we won't be having this discussion.

If you ask me, I think the first group that MOE should cut or cap is GRL under Phase 2B. Currently, the school plans by limiting or abolishing PVs, the clan association plans by limiting the number of recommendations. Then all these planning can be overwhelmed by a swarm of applications under the GRL route. What is worse is that the GRLs are not restricted to applying for a particular school. They can choose ANY school in the GRC. I don't think they would be choosing the less popular schools in 2B, would they?

Furthermore, GRLs are supposed to be reflecting public opinions and the difficulties their constituents encounter upwards. How can one expect them to communicate the difficulties faced by parents if they are the ones who benefit from the current system? And I am not even getting into whether the grassroots organizations are actually political.

I think MOE should at least improve transparency and publish how many letters are issued for GRLs in each GRC; and how many registrations in each school in 2B are (1) PVs; (2) clan or church members; and (3) GRLs.

Can choose any school but if stay outside 1km of that school, it is still pointless. When comes to phase 2b, those who stays within 1km will get the advantage.

Priority for citizens not effective enough...

In my 2 cents opinion, maybe MOE should start to look at ownership of the property use for registration rather than IC address, many people rent a place to register their children. Especially those within 1km from good school.

Many good school now are a result of hard work from school staff, kids studying there & parents/alumni support. The bonding with the school for generations will never be understood by outsiders who just want to take advantage of the current success of the school. My FIL & DH went to the same school, they are passionate about their school, join the same alumni, contributed much to the school in everyways they can even after they graduated. So naturally we will want our DS to have a secure place in the same school, share the same spirit & passion too!

There are also those alumni that don’t stayed near the school, non-active but take advantage of the system. Why is the school so highly sought after?management , quality of the teachers played a major role with the support of the parent n students. MOE should consider to place the teachers in different schools every 3 years maybe so that they can share the same practices acrross n all school will be good school.

I may be biased but i understand that church contributes alot to the schools they are affiliated with so would nto the members of the church feel it is unfair to them since they in part have contributed tot he school if Phase 2B was removed?

Again, I wonder if people are sayign this liek the article posted because the lady could not get in the chocie school. If that school was not Ai Tong, would anyone be complaining if they could not get in to a school 3 mins walk away?
