So fast :scared:Prelim 1 over today.
Now gotta get ready for prelim 2 in 3-4 weeks time.
My oral prelim next week.
How fast prelim result out? Is it really that psle easier than prelim? Even for not so academic school? -
CDE:
I think some schools have 2 Prelims before PSLE . Not all schools Prelims are tougher than PSLE, especially the not so academic ones. Moreover, a lot of people predict this year PSLE will be tougher than last year.

Thanks Janet and all mummies with tips on resting!
Rest is crucial...like today, he slept for 3 hours this afternoon. Didn't have the heart to wake him as he slept at 1230 yest. Even for us adults, if we are tired, we will be reading same paragraph for the next 30 min.
Weather is cold of late, wear warmer clothes to avoid getting the chill. -

Thank you simkhoo for your advice. your daughters are more discipline than my son. Anyway, I have to be firm & insist that he follows. Not choice, better than fall sick all the time.mummy so kiasu:
Thank you Janet, fighting mom & CDE. I had advised my son to curb his reading for the time being until after PSLE or at least get his homework done first before reading but he just love to read. He has about 6 to 7 hours of sleep recently & I am not surprise that he got burn out. Now have to cross my fingers & hope that he does not fall sick during the Prelims & PSLE period. Will try to give him more herbal tea & barley water.
Both my daughters like to read to destress and relax. What I do is give them a set time to read after getting home, like 20 mins, before they do their work. If they think they may forget to keep an eye on the time, they will set a timer. -

cL prelim oral next mon and english on tue. Understand PSLE and prelim oral about the same...just that actual PSLE examiners are from another school.

Actually I am telling and reminding myself not to sweat over prelim...the real thing is PSLE. DSA selection is over, so I was told that it shouldn't be really difficult. -

So easy paper can 'kill' too.

As for prelim 1, DS says still quite easy......so I'm quite confused. Prelim 1 supposed to help identify weak areas, but if it's too easy....what are they trying to identify?? :? But I think the new principal is trying hard, so gotta give them benefit of doubt..... -
I believe most schools will be conducting their Prelims in the upcoming 2 weeks or so. Good luck to all ds and dd.
All KSP papas and mamas... Stay cool and supportive ! :rahrah:
Fighting ! :rahrah: :rahrah: -
Yes, that is the scary part…too easy a paper, the kid thinks PSLE is easy. Too tough, the child thinks is demoralized. Whatever it is, this is the last dash and we just hope our kids can use that stamina for that major exam.

I’ve taken my foot off the pedal COMPLETELY now. I no longer assign work. I no longer mark work. The school is revving up to the PSLE and almost every day there are practice papers to do for homework. I like this and am quite happy to let the school do what I observe it is now doing. I no longer have to write excuse letters to excuse my son from doing useless and boring homework.
DS commented once that he performs best when he gets into the zone between Anxiety and Serenity. I don’t care how easy or difficult the papers are nowadays. DS just needs to practice getting into The Zone where every sense is alert to challenge BUT not afraid of it.
I’m pretty sure he is not THE BEST student at PSLE but I think we’ve done enough. From now till PSLE, we will be going on half-load. If school gives enough for half-load then I give nothing. If school doesn’t give enough for half-load then I may still give nothing.
What will be… will be. -

I've hands off assigning work for my son since the beginning of the year. I've outsourced him to the professionals. For prelims, I think it should be sufficient.
