So class average is distinction, those w 4.5 and above should have high distinction.[/quote]Sem1 Physics and Chemistry not yet graded so I guess it is not possible to have a feel of how the students perform overall at this moment.
As there is also a choice of whether to include the electives or not, the cap may change as students doing well in electives will want to take that into consideration in the cap.

For parents of potential NUSH students next yr, note that the Semester1 grade is not only from the exam but includes marks from tests etc.

Back then, we preferred DS1 to go HCI as we do not know if it is too early for him to specialize in Math & Science & NUSHS is still a very 'young' school with not much track records as compared to HCI.

However, DS1 has long 'regarded' NUSHS as his future school, so after much consideration, we allowed him to make his own choice.

However, we are glad that we did that as DS1, being a \"Math & Science' guy, may not have excel in HCI as his weakness is in languages. In NUSHS, he is self-motivated, doing his favourite subjects and reading in advance, something that he may not do if he is 'forced' to do subjects that he does not have the interest. So far, he has no problem with most subjects and has done well for his SA1. Hope he can continue this way.

I'm not sure about his class average but if it's the same as the other class : 4.1 - 4.2, he is above average, esp the 3 Science subjects.

What are the core subjects that the students are doing in NUS high? Do they have non core subjects like philosophy or research education like what the other IP schools are offering? TIA
