But forevernikon- clementi is not within 1km of scgs… And if you are using parents or inlaws place as the address it falls within 1to2 km for registration purposes and not within 1km and a stat declaration must be produced.

This is my first post - I have been reading the recent posts (from my husbands account) regarding prospective parents stating that its okay to play the system with open deceit and provide false information \"as long as you are desperate to get your child into a good school\". I have been living in Dunearn for over 8 years, long before I was a mum and had planned to send my girl to SCGS along a time ago. I legitimately live within 1 km of the school. I feel that it is absolutely wrong to use a grandparents/uncle/aunt/friends address as your own address and use it to apply at 2C (<1km). I would have liked to be a PV but my legal career does not allow me the luxury of time.

There are only 29 places available this year... a record low. I'm pretty certain that I am going to have to ballot with many people who like me are legitimately living within 1km of SCGS...but also many others who are applying under less than 1km but most certainly do not qualify. Just by changing your SingTel/Starhub/M1 etc phone bill or bank statements address and then using that document to change your NRIC address at a police post is clear cut fraud and illegal. If you are not physically using that address as your principal residence then it is illegal to change your IC to that address. Stay at home mums are not eligible to sign the MOE stat deceleration and therefore cannot use (parents/uncle/aunt/caregiver) address for p1 registration.

I have a very close friend working in the legal department of MOE and he is good friends with one of the vice-principals of SCGS. The final list of 29 parents is easily obtainable. If my daughter fails to secure a place at SCGS this year at 2C (<1km) - then I shall move heaven and earth to ensure that every single child's parent's are investigated. Based on the comments on this forum alone it is clear that I am likely to be balloting against some of you (who live >1km from SCGS ... clementi to bishan to Toa payoh...somewhere in Singapore). My line of work involves dealing with private investigators and industrial espionage on an almost daily basis... once I have the list of children's names and birth cert numbers it is just a matter of 1-2 weeks work at the most. In addition, the school bus company will provide the school and in turn to MOE with pick up addresses of all children and this can be cross referenced with the P1 registration addresses. The Ministry of home affairs has records of all NRIC address changes and can track those temporary changes (i.e. only changed a few months before P1 reg...then changed back to after school starts. Those who are 'legal' have nothing to fear. I refuse to allow some parents who are punching above their weight and trying to 'steal' a place from my local school and therefore deprive my girl of her entitlement. Some say the PRs and foreigners are the enemy ...reading these messages I beg to differ.

Unlike other countries...everything single piece of information pertaining to that individual is traceable through your IC number.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...THIS IS NOT A THREAT.....IT IS A PROMISE.

As I know, yes, it's strictly confidential. Not that easy to track. I think more people are using rental address (and they are indeed staying there) rather than using fake address. I find this year registration is highly competitive and stressful for many parents. Appear that in several popular schools, seats left for 2C is at record low.

It is HIGH time to open up the can of worms .... expose all cheaters & liars who obtain a place within < 1km. After manage to ballot in sucessfully, a few months later after the dust settle down, then they quietly shift back to their former old house > 1km, hoping that no one bother to spot check.

Yes, i've heard stories about how some intend to use their rich relative's house to register within 1 km from SCGS, when their own house actually reside > 1km.

once you get caught, your name & profession will be centred spread, splashed across a number of newspapers. Your bosses, colleagues in your department will come to know that you're a cheater / liar. Everyone gossip about you, behind your back. If you are a civil servant, you may even risk losing your \" iron rice bowl\".

This does not happen to SCGS alone. But also to a few other hot, popular branded schools as well.

in this internet High Tech computerized age where many people are computer technically savy, once you're able to assess information readily, nothing is confidential (P&C).

While I understand the stress of all parents (been there twice), look at her post again.

She said she has a very good friend working in moe who happens to be very close to one of the vice principals in scgs and obtaining the list of children who registered in scgs is very easy for her.

Isn't there something wrong here? Do u see it?

This \"very good friend of hers working in MOE\" may possibly be his / her spouse or a friend / relative who is a Principal / Teacher (HOD) / admin Executive staff working in MOE with authority. This person can then request / obtain info from the VP in primary school.

                      When there's a will, there's a way. Didn't he / she state:-
\"I shall move heaven and earth to ensure that every single child's parent's are investigated.\" ? This person is fighting for his / her daughter's right staying < 1km he deem fairness.

yup, but as a MOE staff, you can't divulge such information to outsiders. P1 Mummy has already given clues to who the people are. These people can get into trouble legally, which i'm sure she is very well aware of since she works in the legal circle.

What she can do is to request the relevant people to investigate. But for her to obtain the info (e.g. IC#) from MOE for herself to conduct investigation -> it is not right.

\"once I have the list of children's names and birth cert numbers it is just a matter of 1-2 weeks work at the most.\"
