Also, any unsuccessful Tao Nan mummies out there, can share if I do go through phase 2B and 2C but unsuccessful for all, which likely school will MOE post DS to? We stay opposite marine parade.

usual practice is to apply to old school under 2A1/2. Then monitor and decide on the last day of registration for Phase 2C. if you are under 2B, I think chances will be very high. else, I think still the same (aka nail biting). Come to the end, it's whether you want to take the risk

Nan Chiau has 116 places left for phase 2B & 2C. If your hubby old boys school is a good school & not too far away, then don't take risk & just take it. Unless you are a PV & qualify for phase 2B.

It's been 4 days and there has been no replies. Why? Because all SHHK members managed to get the letter of recommendation.... even those who are not active (i.e. did not do volunteer work)....

I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t get the recommendation letter. We knew some people who did minimal volunteer work (2 hours or less) and they got the recommendation letter. However, we do not know how long they have been SHHK members. Perhaps the length of the membership may have something to do with it, although some SHHK members say they know of people who have been member for only about 1 1/2 years and got the recommendation letter.

it is said that school’s vacancy and the number of SHHK applicants seeking recommendation letter for that school plays a part. Thus, it varies from school to school, and year to year.

do they teach the kids to speak Hokkien in those schools ?

:idea: Maybe kids who wish to register at these school must know how to speak Hokkien as a pre-entry requirement...the kids must be able to read a passage in Hokkien, or sing a Hokkien song during the interview...then very soon, many kids in Singapore are proficient in Hokkien...

think you're right.
since the kids got admitted into schools via Hokkien clan, should introduce a basic entry test (for deserving ones):- to what extent how Hokkien are they, truthfully ?

maybe time to start enrichment classes for kindergarten kids, teach them how to speak Hokkien, Cantonese, Teochew, Hakka, etc - so that next generation of kids do not lose out \"dialect\"
